Florida Man checking in. I’m not bragging but I’m very fortunate to have two homes in the great state of Florida. Both have more than doubled in value in recent years. So have my property taxes and insurance. It’s ridiculous. I have not consumed twice as much in government services. I don’t have kids 8n school. I’ve never once called the police or fire department. The roads have not changed. What exactly and I paying for?

The Orlando home goes up for sale the day I retire. I’m getting the hell out of that place. I will consolidate to my place in St Augustine and buy a RV with a chunk of the profits from the sale.

Every conservative friend I know here in Florida love both RDS and The Donald. It's only the cultists on here do I see a schism between the two parties.

Outlaw the property tax nationally for primary residence.

He isn’t wrong.

The fact that they recalculate my home value every few years is asinine, not to mention the idea that I am apparently “renting” my property from the government.

Would probably still vote for DeSantis over JD or Rubio

Over Rubio? No question.

I'll vote for Ron over JDV but have no qualms about JDV, at all. He's been a rock star since his nomination. I just know Ron has been the best state level executive in the country by a long shot.

I don't trust Rubio. Without Daddy Trump keeping a boot in his arse, I think Marco would instantly revert back to the invertebrate he's always been. Rubio is only as strong as he has to be.

You could say the same thing about JD Yeah - he has been great so far but is that because of Daddy or is that what he really believes? There is really no record for JD to stand on so far. Ron has been putting his lifted boot up the arse of woke and made the Democrat party extinct in Florida and was doing it when Trump was out of power things were looking very bad for MAGA. I know Ron is a warrior. JD? Maybe

Now they increase every year so you can fund schools too shitty for your kids to attend. What a country.

Meanwhile Texas has $25 Billion in the Texas Teachers Rainy Day Fund account.
I’d be shocked if Louisiana even has such an account.

How about Ron does something about never ending insurance hikes and $500 electric bills for a normal house.

Where in FL do you live?

I live in the panhandle - 26yr old house, 16seer AC set at 73-75, 2140sqft, and gas hot water

My power bill 2024 averaged $137, 2023 was $154. So far in 2025 - averaging $128.

Average KW/day in 2025 - ~27KWhr/day

Gulf Power which was recently bought out by FPL

Out of all taxes, it makes the most sense to me. Choose the services based on where you buy property.

If Florida figures out this and insurance, I’m moving out of Shitouisiana. Landry still trying to figure out how to strike checks to his trial lawyers while citizens suffer.

You really should. If I didn’t have family reasons for staying I would gtfo as fast as possible. This state is hopeless because the populace is made up of a bunch of HS mentality dumbasses that take more pride in being known as a bunch of drunkards than they care about having a decent, prosperous state to live in.

I'm guessing that good people sat around and did nothing when it came out. Wish we could throw some tea or something in the harbor again.

IMO Ron separated himself as the best governor in the country during Covid red state Govs were following Florida’s lead.
Although he’ll never be president, I am a fan of DeSantis.

You pay no state income tax. They are going to make that money up somewhere else. Property taxes go up in most every state, ON TOP of income taxes.
