He announced yesterday that clean energy wasn’t sufficient to meet their energy needs and they needed to rethink options.

Wild fricking guess here but I think that means “We can’t retire Diablo Canyon and we hugely fricked up by retiring other nuke plants”

Sempra is based in San Diego Cali, they own one of the largest utilities in Texas (ONCOR) which operates and maintains the electric grid to 1/3 of the state.

I have a back up propane generator connected to the house.

De-regulation can have an adverse effect.

Not a fan of solar or wind, it's just not economical at an individual level.

The crazy leftists in California have retired so many Natural Gas and Nuclear power plants that Solar and wind plants can't supply electricity demand.

The company I work for had to shut down one of our solar thermal plants in cali because, well because cali... They ate fricking with all power, not just fossil

They voted for it, let them live with it. I know there are conservatives who do live there but at this point they should be considering leaving or get used to putting up with it.

This is what happens when the party of science believes nuclear power is made of evil spirits.

This is what happens when a bunch of watermelons run state energy policy.

As in “green on the outside, red on the inside.”

Those same idiots probably wanted Enron execs to get the chair for manipulating Cali’s energy markets in the late 90s / early 2000s yet they have no problem with cutting the ability to produce instate then buying excess production from other states.

Ya know for all the bragging about being the 5th largest economy they sure do have alot of 3rd world problems. What other state in the US has this problem? It surely isn't a natural resource issue as Califirnia has large oil and gas reserves.

They have a severe shortage of common sense.

Yesterday was 109 where I am. But it’s a dry heat.
Not sure what today is supposed to be. Overnight lows have been in the high 80s. If you do anything outside it needs to be done by 8am. We haven’t had any blackouts, yet. But the advisory lasts through tomorrow. So we aren’t out of the woods yet.

Yes, as a state we’ve done this to ourselves. Victor Davis Hanson once spoke about how the coastal politicians are the ones that dictate energy policy here. But they’re coastal and really have no need to for air conditioning and thus have no understanding of what the Valley experiences each year. Honestly, I don’t think it matters even if they do understand how hot it gets. They just don’t care, The Valley is effectively the California equivalent of fly-over country to the coastal libs.

Cali shuts down good energy for inefficient energy then makes it almost impossible to update forest fire causing supply lines.

This is why they now require all new homes to have solar that feeds back to the grid installed.

They demand solar and wind energy and then when it gets built they refuse to allow the transmission lines to make it usable. This is what happens when your electorate and whore politicians run your utilities.

A reckoning of Biblical proportions is coming to California.

You can really see it setting up. Anyone who still believes in goodness, freedom and morality should flee that state while there's still time.

The "big one" is coming.

They actually PAY other states to take power off their hands. They make too much solar power during overly sunny days and have nothing to do with the excess. So they give the power away, along with a check to accept it lol

Green energy gives one such a warm and fuzzy feeling!

But only in the summer time!
