Stop. It was about Jesus.

This is absurd.

It's crystal clear.

You're aware that Priebus is Orthodox, right?

Christmas is about Christ, the new King.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Have you not had your fill of a POTUS and first lady who carry themselves as a king and queen? Should have be clearer in the message, too close to the edge

I never post here, but if this whole thing is about Jesus, please explain the bolded part:

quote:

Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King

What is this new king he is clearly referring to in the last sentence? Because, it is clear he is not talking about the original event two millennia ago.

Excuse me, name calling not necessary and the RNC statement failed to capitalize king which makes it an ambiguous statement

Context clue seems seem to indicate they're still talking about Jesus since the word king is capitalized. That being said, the writer's hermaneutics are off as there is no biblical mention of the number of wise men (only the gifts are mentioned), and they almost certainly did not show up on the night of the birth, but probably at a time when the God/Child was about 2-3 years old.

No, I read it as if it's still referring to the same new King, Jesus the Christ.

The tweet very clearly states that just as the three wise men celebrated his coming 2000 years ago, so should we celebrate it today.

The Republican National Committee came under fire on Sunday after some said its Christmas message compared Donald Trump to Jesus Christ.

“Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind,” the message from RNC chair Reince Priebus and co-chair Sharon Day said. “Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King.”

Of course you post no link as your OP mirrors The Daily Kos loser prog newspaper.

Reince Priebus is a Greek Orthodox Christian. If you don't like the message-no one cares- just don't misquote and take it out of context.

I can't believe how things are twisted like this; yet you and your prog daily kos never held Obama or HRC to the fire, for anything. Let the butthurt make you miserable. I see the board has been inundated with butthurt progs on this beautiful Christmas day. What a shame.

The older I get, the more stuff seems to trigger the shite out of people. I can't imagine running around crying about every statement or comment someone makes that I don't agree with. Jesus Christmas people, get it together.

Jesus was a "new" at the time of his arrival on earth two millenia ago. How could he possibly be referred to as new two thousand years later?

I just went to the official site this orginated. The butthurt progs @ the daily kos et al...Twisting this, is very juvenile and desperate.

quote:

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day released the following statement celebrating Christmas:

“Merry Christmas to all! Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King. We hope Americans celebrating Christmas today will enjoy a day of festivities and a renewed closeness with family and friends.

“Even as we celebrate, we must also remember those among us who are less fortunate. Many on this day are without hope, and need the kindness and compassion of those around them. It is our prayer we will rise to meet the material, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals all around us, and what better day is there to love our fellow man than today?

“As we open presents, enjoy Christmas dinner, and celebrate our own family traditions, we are mindful of our men and women in uniform. Many are stationed around the world today protecting our freedoms, and cannot be with their own spouses, children, parents, and siblings. We express the deepest gratitude for service that takes them away from celebrating with loved ones, and we ought to remember them in our thoughts and prayers not just on Christmas Day, but the whole year round.”
