With the current make up of congress there is no way to attack the deficit in any meaningful way.

What is guaranteed to happen if the scum prevent this from passing is a huge tax increase in addition to a recession.
Correct.

Procedural question, does a failed vote to proceed simply mean that they continue negotiating?

Can someone explain the shift from decrying omnibus bills to praying for the BBB to pass?

This bill is as good as we could get with the margins we have in the senate - the tax cut alone is worth it- and it will pass this is just theatre

The tax cut is not worth mentioning. You'll pay that plus more in inflation.

About a month ago MAGSs were screaming "it has to crash to rebuild it, now y'all are kicking the can down the road again.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

What’s the explanation? On the surface it looks like these giant spending bills are ok as long as Trump is the one endorsing them.

No, no there aren’t. For Republicans to vote against the most popular Republican President’s legislation in his first 6-months in office is unconscionable. The people gave President Trump a resounding mandate to govern and now these RINOs want to grandstand. Failure to pass this Bill would be a disaster for the entire Party.

The fact that so-called “conservatives” on this board support this pork-ridden monstrosity and try to label opponents to it as “RINOs” shows you how ideologically bereft they are. This is the cult of personality behavior I would expect from Democrats; if not Stalinist Russia.

I support Trump to get things done I want to- the destruction of the federal government and its spending, immigration and border protection. I don’t blindly support him just because his name is on a deal.

The vast majority of TCJA "tax cuts" have been in place for 8 years. There is a proven track record. It sinks your TDS infused claim.

Those cuts actually do focus heavily on the upper brackets…

Not this bullshite argument again.

In a progressive tax system, when you provide relief, OBVIOUSLY the people who are in the highest bracket will get a decrease, and since they are paying 80% of the income tax shouldnt they get at least half the tax cut?????????

I see Johnson's point, but cutting off your nose to spite your face is not the answer.

This bill gives us most of what we want. We already have reconciliation in place to start whacking at the DOGE objectives.
