Sheriff’s Lt. Brandon Dean said Monday evening that two deputies from the South Los Angeles station were driving on Budlong Avenue at 3:15 p.m. when they spotted a man riding his bicycle in violation of vehicle codes. Dean said he didn’t know which vehicle codes the man allegedly broke.

If you punch a cop, you are going to likely get tased or hit back. And I am 100 percent ok with that.

quote:

In doing so, the man dropped a bundle of clothing he had been carrying. The deputies spotted a black handgun in the bundle, Dean said, and both opened fire, killing the man. No deputies were injured.

So the cops opened fire after the man dropped his gun? He wasn't reaching for it?

This is why people protest.

1) Cops using BS laws as pretense to pull over a black man. When's the last time you heard of a white person getting pulled over for something like this, on his bike?

2) Shooting a guy who dropped his weapon and was making no attempt to grab it or another weapon?

It's crazy, though, how this only happens in liberal-run cities. Down here in the "racist south", we don't seem to have these issues.

Dude was belligerent and armed. He deserved what he got.

The way that reads, the guy dropped his clothes which happened to have a gun, the cops saw the gun and decided that was enough to shoot him.

I'm going to go on the record as being skeptical that this is how it happened.

However, I acknowledge that if it did happen that way, the cops should be put on trial for murder.

That's the story as of now. If that story changes, then yes, maybe the cops were justified in shooting him.

But... that still doesn't explain the original decision to stop him.

That’s just what has been known so far, it’s not “official” that the guy didn’t grab/reach for the gun and they don’t have the full story released yet on why he was pulled over. You’re just quoting two statements from what that one Sherrif Lt. (who wasn’t involved) knows so far

You jumping to conclusions before any official reports is just as bad. Rioting/pushing a narrative the cops were “wrong” this early doesn’t help anything. But welcome to 2020

One less POS in the world.

Why is he riding a bike with a pistol? Did he have a rap sheet? Did he have a history of felony or a warrant? Was the gun registered?

So many questions - but you don't care about the truth or circumstances. GFY!

It doesn't seem unofficial that the guy was stopped because of riding a bike in violation of official codes...

Tell me how those answers, which would not be known at the time of the decision to stop the guy, caused the cops to stop the guy.

When's the last time you saw a white man stopped by the police while riding a bike?

Sure looks like he did.

After he was stopped for riding a bike. Why was he stopped for riding a bike? When's the last time a white guy was stopped for riding a bike?

That's like the 3rd time you've mentioned that. Is that the part you are concerned with?

We still have to conduct our interviews of the investigating officers to see exactly what happened and transpired during the deputy-involved-shooting,” Dean said

This is all that matters. Who knows how he was riding his bike. Was he riding around in the middle impeding traffic? Was he riding and assaulting people? Was he riding and looked high or drunk?

You don’t know. I don’t know. Only the cops on the scene know, so why play this game of making an opinion on it?

How many people do you know rides bikes while holding bundles of clothes with a pistol inside? Clearly something was suspicious either way

So you are ok with him assaulting the police, instead of acting like a reasonable sane person.

Not really here to argue or anything but I'm pretty sure I have seen a white guy get pulled over on a bike about every other live PD. The difference is most don't run and/ or drop a gun in the process.

PS: If you don't want to get shot by a cop then announce you have weapon and put your hands up. Its hard to defend anyone who confronts police while having a weapon and not announcing it, regardless of the outcome.

Memorial Day Weekend, PCB. White dude was riding his bike in the middle of traffic on the main strip... He complied and didn't get shot. Imagine that... I was disappointed, even had my phone out ready to record...

It's what started the whole transaction, and it's what the protesters are constantly complaining about.

And stuff like this gives them fuel for the fire.
