It looks like the House impeachment is now a foregone conclusion. To wit the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) Chairman Richard Burr has announced the schedule outline for the upcoming Senate Impeachment Trial.

The trial of President Trump will run from 12:30pm to 6:30pm Monday through Saturday and will last approximately six to eight weeks

Generally it appears the SSCI is positioning for a conclusion of a guilty verdict where President Trump will be removed from office and President Mike Pence will select Nikki Haley as his vice-presidential candidate for 2020. [Hence the book and MAGA narrative]

Senate Chairman Richard Burr’s forward-lean into the impeachment process takes us back to something previously outlined when it seemed like this was the preferred direction for the professional political class.

…A branch of the United States government (Legislative) is attempting a coup against the leader of another branch of government (Executive); by using the Senate Intelligence Committee and designated corrupt agents within the executive branch cabinet.

Why is Burr speaking on behalf of the Senate here?

I like how it is scheduled from 1230 to 1830 Monday through Saturday.

Makes traveling extremely difficult and very very expensive.

There is no doubt a number of Republicans are working on it.

They definitely want Trump gone and its likely why the Democrats are pushing this.

They know it's a close enough call to be worth it.

Make no mistake, it will be Republicans lobbying other Republicans to remove the President.

Why on Earth would they need a 6 to 8 week trial that goes 6 days a week.

They could be done with it in a week.

The only reason for the Republicans to drag this travesty out is because they want to do it.

They want to use this sham process and turn this into something they can use to rid themselves of Trump.

They might not be able to do it but that's the goal it's becoming quite obvious.

Just wondering if I'm the only one that thinks is they drag this out for 6-8 weeks that most people will tune out the entire process?

When this is all done will Richard Burr still be a senator, he and that slime Warner may be in a wee bit of hot water.

He said he will not run again in 2022 anyway, but Id love to see him tagged with a scarlet letter like he deserves to ruin his book deals and his reputation for the rest of his life.

Generally CTH is an accurate, or at least interesting perspective.
This case is a weird breach into down-the-rabbithole confabulation, though.
The bizarre CTH presumption seems to be that since the SSCI is planning for the trial and a 6-8 week set aside, this bodes well for Democrats.

In fact, those 6-8 weeks (or more) might take Biden, Sanders and Warren out of the 2020 race 4 primaries in. Sanders, Warren, Harris and Klobuchar will be stuck sitting in the Senate well during entirety of the trial. Biden might be stuck, along with his son, on the witness stand in front of them.

Frankly if, as I suspect will occur, the POTUS concomitantly lays out elements of the coup, 6-8 wks could be a conservative time estimate.

Announcing the 6-8 wk timeframe was a necessary WARNING issued NOW, because when the MSM realizes how disabling trapping half their Dem Presidential field during the early primaries in the Senate is, they are going to scream bloody murder.

When POTUS mounts a lengthy and withering defense, an exposure of a Dem-DeepState-MSM organized coup, the MSM and Dem will wail to high heaven.
Now, McConnell, Burr and Senate Republicans can say "You were warned!"

The various witness examinations and cross-examinations Schiff is refusing to allow, will take place in a Senate trial, unabated, unfettered. Because Schiff has avoided their testimony in House proceedings, Senate trial testimony will be new to the public.

Further, the witness examinations will be uninterrupted by the typical 5 min Senate Democrat interludes such as was the case with Kavanaugh. e.g., This will involve the best counsel Trump can find, putting Adam Schiff on the stand, and grilling him w/o interlude, about complicity in manipulating/manufacturing the whistleblower complaint.

Impeachment reeks of a last desperate attempt to beat Durham and Barr to the punch. As Durham's work continues, if I'm Trump, I try to run my full-frontal-exposure of this coup d'état through the SC primary and out all the way to Super Tuesday, if possible.

Scorched earth. IMO the 6-8 wks is nothing but a huge warning shot across the Dem-MSM Party bow. "Once you start this, it will continue as long as it take to complete."

I won't watch any of this. It's pretty manufactured to me. But if by chance it's determined by both parties that Trump engaged in malfeasance I'll be pissed he did this during or after the Mueller investigation and that I supported him in the first place.

I've donated money to Trump, the RNC and Republican candidates. But I haven't contributed recently because the whole lot of them piss me off. Republicans run the 400 about 200 meters behind the Democrats.
