quote:Salvation is an act of God’s free grace in that He draws people to Himself, gives them a new heart (desire and affection for Him) and trust in Christ for forgives of their sins. This comes with a godly sorrow for those evils works they performed and a desire for obedience going forward.
I love how people seem to think a person could be a total piece of shite their entire lives and say some magic words on their death bed and just somehow bypass all their years of shitty behavior. It's the silliest part of Christianity.
It isn’t merely about saying words. Saying words alone does not do anything to save a person from their sins.
What is wonderful about this doctrine is that it speaks to sinners like you and me. I’ve spoken to people who haven’t murdered anyone with their hands but have felt incredible guilt for the things they have done (lies, theft, fornication, adultery) and they have felt worthless and undeserving of love from anyone, much less God. This idea of forgiveness gives hope to the hopeless, in that even those who sought to kill Jesus and His followers could be forgiven, because no one is worthy in themselves, but we can still be saved because it isn’t what we do, but what Jesus has done for us that matters.

I'll repost.
The point being that the user said that works don't get you into heaven. My point is that a person's works are an evidence of their faith. As is made clear by James. Now, none of us know Trump's heart. But his works are clearly indicative of a person who lives with active faith and he speaks of God often. My guess is he's good to go.
I love how easy it is to rile you guys up though.

If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you will be saved.

Well we will all find out including you. If you believe in nothing but this life perhaps that’s all one gets. Me? God says there is more. And science says energy cannot be destroyed only changed. So I got that and the Dali Lama going for me.

Jesus condemned the Pharisees, who on the outside were the most religious and “holy” people in Israel according to works, yet rejected Jesus and the salvation He brought.
If Trump doesn’t think he is going to Heaven, he is either woefully immature in his faith in Christ or has no faith in Him at all. Sadly, I see more evidence in his words of a lack of trust in Christ than the opposite.

I've already found out. 23 years ago. The incident led to 20+ years of research that is still ongoing to this day. My current stance on it is that there is only one true religion and all of the religions of the world hint at it but have been twisted and used as a means to control people rather than show people how to transcend this plane of existence and move on after death.

I take you at your word. There is only one but we humans sure can complicate things.

Trump is the most productive President we’ve had in a longgggg time

The moral of the story is always the same though. Just be a good person and you're gonna be alright. All the fighting over religion is probably the single saddest thing that has ever happened to humanity.

Well said RFK jr!!!!! Trump is the one and only president that could do this. Democrats hate Trump because they know that they could never do this and have preached to America that it was impossible. They care more about power than they do about peace!

It’s not saying magic words. It’s realization. It’s having a moment to consider everything and making a decision.
This. You have to feel remorse and truly want repentance, and you have to work to become a better person. You must confess that Jesus is Savior, acknowledge His sacrifice for us. You must humble yourself before God

quote:Works cannot make anyone right before a holy God because even our best works are covered with sin. We need the sinless work ms of the God-man, Jesus Christ, to wash away our sins and to make us right with God. That only happens by trusting in Jesus.
