Wage increases in Seattle, San Francisco and Portland boosted the company’s wage expenses by a total of $10.6 million through its fiscal year end 2019, Bagley said. Revenue for the year ended May 31 was $176 million, down 1% from the prior year.

It’s kind of shocking when you see that. Wage increases in three markets increased its labor expenses to the tune of 5.7% of their entire revenue. That’s shocking.

Solution to the wage issue. Deport all the illegal aliens and their families. The resulting decrease in supply of labor will cause wages to rise.

Does a sixteen year old high school student with very little skills deserve a "living" wage your Dems are yapping about?

Just curious, but how many of your entry level workers were druggies, too? That seems to be par for the course up here for restaurant servers. That's all they can get to take those jobs.

You're from St. Louis, aren't you? Or at least the state of Missouri. I'd bet money on it. That is the only place that I've heard the term 'hoosier' used as a synonym of white trash.

Kind of like 'poo-doo' from Vermillion Parish.

Yeah

Ya know, it really surprised me when I first learned 'hoosier' was a local-only term.

Phonetically and just all around it just seems like it fits so well.

There's so many different types and levels of hoosiers. It's a topic I enjoy talking about.

There's good hoosiers, and bad. And actually wealthy, and midrange, and poor.

The word was almost totally wiped out of my vocab by the time I was out of college bc people were like, what...?

So if you pay 15 hour don't rents and other goods/services go up therefore negating some of the increase in pay?

People are paying rent rates as they are now through subsidies and living in conditions that are less than legal (this is especially true in Seattle where 1 or 2 people are on a lease and 6-8 people are sharing the space). The city and the state are subsidizing low income housing already so the taxpayer is subsidizing the housing costs of these employers employees. Expendable income isn't on the rise.....what is on the rise is income which is required to maintain current levels of production. Instead of the costs of living (and therefore production) being subsidized by taxpayers the burden is placed where it should be....on employers who need that production to operate.

I don't know of any economic law which states that as costs go up prices automatically follow. If this were true there'd be very little risk in operating a business. I know this is a commonly held idea among the right....that if costs go up prices must follow....but it isn't necessarily true otherwise management wouldn't care about managing costs.....prices can only go up if the market allows....it has nothing at all to do with production costs....if production costs dictated market price there would be no point in managing anything...simply build shite or provide a service without regard to cost and prices would automatically go up....that doesn't work....
