So the company wasn't viable when it was forced to foot the actual costs of its production out of its end and wasn't allowed to rest on the taxpayer to subsidize its workforce. That'll happen when all of a sudden you are expected to actually be self reliant instead of merely claiming to be.... What you know about running a business could fit in a thimble.

It'd be a big ole thimble my friend....

So a little quick research suggests that in order to live in a studio apartment in Seattle and not be a burden to taxpayers by using public transportation and the like a person has to earn a little less than $19 an hour. Its slightly higher in the surrounding metro area. That's a little less than $7 an hour deficient that this restaurant was required to pay...so someone will make up that $7 and it will be taxpayers in the form of subsidized housing, transportation costs, health care etc. Imagine what this business was getting by with prior to the $12 an hour minimum wage???? And ya'll are all in on subsidizing this operations production costs as long as they don't have to pay a living wage....why???? Why are you ok supplementing the income of wealthy people and investors but opposed to helping working people

I would imagine the additional cost of wage increases has been passed onto the customer base. I would also imagine that is a factor in "consumers shunning casual dining."

There’s a reason why half of Groupon is restaurants. Dining out is one of the most elastic demand curves out there.

So if you pay 15 hour don't rents and other goods/services go up therefore negating some of the increase in pay?

Oh. Those cost weren’t passed on to other restaurants.

Do you even think?

Why not share the full story?

The articles on this matter also point to multiple openings that failed recently, not because of wage law but because the concept didn't work.

The articles also mention the shrinking market for this type of food service.

There is a general trend away from this type of casual dining.

People are seeing through these types of establishments.

Chains like Applebees and Outback seem to stick around because there's enough hoosier-trash-average people out there who don't know any better, plus travel ball.

I went to a place called Viscia today. World class level restaurant. Had lunch for 12 dollars. Husband and wife. Moved back home from NYC. There is passion there. There is soul. Heart. It's amazing.

The lunch menu is super lean, keeping costs down. Minimalist and updated ethos to how to run a business.

That example is on the rare-end of the spectrum in terms of quality and price, but every city is seeing a boom in establishments with a passion for what they're doing.

There's a reason small-op breweries are taking huge chunks away from the big players.

People have evolved their tastes.

shite-arse, US Food Truck restaurants like Restaurants Unlimited are suffering unless they have a huge top-of-mind name like Long Horn Steakhouse that hoosiers and other trash demographics still like.

Go to bed old man.

Everyone knows fast casual is killing it.

Chipotle. Portillos. Panera.
