And a lot of the rest of our social decline.

Without jobs, illegals would have never come. Since the 80’s, republicans have made sure that big Ag and anybody else who doesn’t want to pay an American a living wage had ample supply.

They’re not pro business, they’re pro big business. Looking out for Mom and pop doesn’t make them rich, but wal mart and Koch sure do.

Now it’s harder than ever to make it without a degree, start a business, and make a family work with only one income. Republicans have taken money from big donors, promoted their interests above ours, and made us corporate slaves. They played the long game and won, but now the avg. American taxpayer is the loser

I’m not saying the dems have it right, but it wasn’t them who turned Texas into Mexico.

Why do we put so much weight on "mom and pop shops" over big corps?

What matters is me getting good service at low prices. I couldn't give a shite about whether the store is small and family owned or not. More often than not, mom and pop shops are pricier and less innovative.

I don't see the problem. You wouldn't pay for produce if you had to pay people $20/hour to work the fields.

Immigrants do the work that lazy whites and black people refuse to do.

I agree. Until democrats start hiring illegals in democrat run industries (drug dealing, casting couch rape, human trafficking, food stamp fraud) then republicans are to blame for illegals coming here seeking jobs

You also don’t live in texas.

Maybe we wouldn’t be so lazy if we didn’t start importing cheap labor.

Also, we could have done a migrant worker visa program and not allowed their offspring to become citizens.

At some point the Mexicans will get tired of being associated with cheap labor, who do we import then?

Ever heard of the American dream? Look it up.

Corporations aren’t concerned for their workers wellbeing, small businesses are because they have to be. Corps will always find another sucker to replace you with and not think twice.

Republicans have some blame, but you obviously don't know who gave us NAFTA. Do you know who had control of Congress throughout the 80's and early 90's?

At what cost? Americans used to do shite ourselves, now were fricking lazy, dumb and fat.

Why do you point to the 1980s? Because Reagan signed the amnesty bill in 1986-ish? The one written by Democrats?

Six million Mexicans came across the border since 1980 (Reagan's election)? Is that what you're saying (federal-wise).

I can't help but agree with you about the lure of jobs, though. During the 1980s the local brick yard started hiring Mexicans and summer jobs at the plant for high-school kids went adios.

HOWEVER

They "stayed in the shadows" until Democrats fought tooth and nail to make them citizens, for votes. The Republican business owners in Texas kept their illegals hid out in mobile homes in the back pasture.

By the time Clinton left office, you would see Mexican women pushing strollers and soon walking in the middle of the road, as our other denizens of a certain sort.

The swarming happened during George W. Bush, for sure. But it's a chicken and egg thing, bro.

To the extent any of your incoherent, adolescent, "I just took my first college poli-sci course" rambling is even worth addressing, why do you believe this aspect of it to be exclusive to Republicans?

The American dream has changed, you're 60 years living in the past.

Sure they are. That's how they attract high quality people.

small businesses are because they have to be.

Mom and pop pay less than BigCorp

If you're low value, sure. Make yourself high value.

And that's another point I was going to make. How many Clinton nominees had to drop out of contention because they had hired illegal Guatemalan nannies?

Illegal immigration is anything BUT a Republican or Democrat problem.

It is absolutely a Republic AND Democrat problem, for different reasons.

The GOP is beholden to the Chamber of Commerce, which wants the cheap labor.

Dems want illegals for the extra votes (yes, they vote. You know it. I know it.)

NAFTA is on both of them. But it doesn’t explain millions of illegals. If anything, it’s kept some who would be employed in Mexico.

Both sides are absolutely guilty of taking advantage of the legal American bribery system. But republicans are the ones who largely take money from and promote the interests of people wanting cheap labor.

Because that’s when they started coming to texas en masse. When I was a kid growing up in east tx in the 80’s we had virtually no Hispanics. By he time I got to middle school in the late 90’s they were all over, every construction site and every farming operation.

I wasn’t referring to that, but I agree it’s on both parties.
