Not true! No legislation is needed to issue a green card.

In one message you talk about taking away jobs from poor Americans, then in another, you talk about mechanization and eliminating those opportunities completely.
Oh good grief.
Both happen simultaneously, but the end state still benefits the working poor. Look at wages for poor Americans under Trump. We’ve seen historic gains, with dropping unemployment.

If we do away with bithright US citizenship how will we decide who a citizen is? A test of language and civil politics at what? Age 3? And what will be their citizenship until then?

Trump signs this, he's done.
I'll even vote for Bernie's arse.
He won't do it before he's reelected, but get ready for a Kushner-led Regan-style Amnesty in his second term.

What’s really the alternative?
Deport millions? It’s logistically impossible.
Why not start collecting taxes from them?

Trump should veto it and make those assholes own. If Bush 41 had done so and made the Dems own that tax hike, Billy Jeff would not have become President.
The veto is there for a reason. Use it.

If the border is secure, legal status (not amnesty) is a no brainer. It might piss off a few hard right people, but he will pick up tons of support from the middle and even left.
I'm close to where you are. Any amnesty should have a very high (but realistic) bar to pass. No felonies, must hold a job and pay taxes, 3 year probation, plus a $10k penalty for coming/ being here illegally. And as you said, get the border locked down prior to any discussion on said amnesty. Alternative around the stipulations is join the military and serve.

This is all academic then, because this will never happen. Too many folks on the right and left want the border open. Although we are already pretty far down that road for mixed reasons (not all illegal immigrants fault, IOW), but it will be the ultimate end of traditional America.
Wave after wave of millions of folks who do not share our culture, our language, our traditions and no time is allowed for assimilation (typically, we would like a generation, generation and a half) before another wave pours in.
I'm not trying to be heartless - these are human beings and just trying to make their way in the world the best they can. But, people are people and they come here and try to make America the place they fled. That, I don't understand.
And we can't take everyone. So, we have to draw the line somewhere.

Is this in any other news? The link seems sketchy campaigning against local politics. Tillis isn't even being challenged anymore and I trust him like I do Burr.

You've spoken a lot of hard truths that politicians never address. And I mostly agree with the exception of not assimilating - at least as a blanket statement.
I lived in a entry home neighborhood for several years with several illegal immigrants living around me. We'd BBQ and drink beer on the front lawn frequently. I also went to school with some illegals. They went to church, spoke english fluently, had great family values, and worked hard jobs. They were very much living an American value life. On the heartless comment, I'd feel heartless shipping them back to Mexico where they'd have no quality of life and no way to make a good life for them or their family. You see a lot of news stories about illegals committing various crimes, but the illegals I knew, none of them were un-assimilated and I generally use my personal experience over one off stories you get in the news. I'm 100% conservative, but this is probably the one topic that I don't see entirely eye to eye with the party line.

What did they do to their home country? I'll shut up and listen.

They broke the law, they go back. Feelings make for poor governance.

They fled it. . . to escape the cartel carnage? The people I'm speaking of, are not formulating cartels and handing out led or silver. They're contributing the same as you do to society.
Not even a majority of Mexicans are complicit in turning Mexico into a shithole directly. It's the government and cartels that did that. Government took the means of the citizens to defend themselves away. . . and the cartels took power over the citizens and government. That's why I'm suggesting that problem illegals don't get cut any slack. If they walk a clean rope, I don't have a problem with them staying. They're here currently, and America isn't turning into Mexico.
