And for those still wondering, a “WSO” (pronounced “Wizz-oh” in military language) is a Weapons Systems Officer. He/she is in charge of the weapons and armament systems on board the aircraft. They have no primary piloting or aircraft navigation duties.

I wondered if a team parachuted in to form a defensive perimeter around him on the ground while they secure the area from above? Once done then wait for nightfall and helo out of there.

Seems like I hit a nerve. If so, that wasn’t my intent. Bottom line is we weren’t looking for another pilot and the “media” hasn’t the slightest clue as to what they are talking about. I was just piling on to the fact that Mario is no journalist and just shoots from the hip.
