Ukraine was never going to let Russia walk in there and set up a puppet regime. At the best they’d have to face an unending rebellion.
Russia can’t carpet bomb the place since they’d have to foot decades of rebuilding and a population that hates their fiber more than now.
It was a losing proposition from the start with or without western support of Ukraine, with the bonus of exposing the incredibly corrupt and inept Russian army.

Those Ruskie Tank Auto-Loaders are definitely a bust. Them American Javelins sure do create a colorful cook-off, including amazing flying tank turrents. Yikes!
