Rep. Lance Harris = Greedy P.O.S.

This greedy bastard figures he was elected to line his pockets and grow his business while his constituents and all other Louisiana citizens pay in the form of higher prices at the gas pumps. Apparently, he owns a string of convenience stores in Alexandria called Leebo's and he wants to make it illegal for stores like Costco and Sam's
to sell their gas at lower prices than his stores. What a douchebag? Who's he helping out here?
Shame on you, and all your self-serving friends in the Louisiana Legislature who's first priority is to promote their own businesses and then throw the citizens a bone every now and then.
Let's woke up, Louisiana! And get rid of the BAADDDD politicians who are supposed to be representing us, all.

Doesn't surprise me. My wife lost her job after he and Jindal shut down the State hospital here. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

Wonder how he'd like it if someone tried to force him to lower the prices on his shite he sells in the store? Convenience stores are notoriously higher on everything.

That's why you are seeing more and more "circle K" and other chain stores buy out the "local guy". They can get a discount bc of purchasing Volume, the small local guy gets squeezed. I understand what you are saying, and agree with Dirty politicians but what about the small business owner?
Lmao at the down votes.

They know what they're up against when they decide to own a convenience store.

Dude!
MANY states prevent stores from selling gas at below market (known as a loss leader) in order to attract customers into their stores to purchase other goods
In fact, every state across the Midwest does this
Do some research. Its embarrassing

i thought it was "below cost", not below market

I was driving back through Louisiana this morning and they were talking about this on local talk radio. The bill is to punish the large chains for colluding on prices to hurt the small stores. It's intent is make the playing field fair.
Apparently he was asked to write the bill by other small gas station owners. I suppose it does look bad coming from him though.

He really is the worst. In Ways and Means he said he opposed raising the cigarette tax because it would hurt his convenience stores.
He is also a primary driver of the rift between the House and the Senate. The adults could come up with a plan, but for him.

I think there are merits to both sides. Me, I favor letting the big stores do what they want, but I am super pro-market forces that way. SO I am on the other side from Harris on this issue.
But don't believe for a second that this is being highlighted for any reason OTHER than go after Harrison.
The Advocate's first page massive hit piece on this talks about how lots of people bring similar self-serving bills and all their examples are Republicans. Well, they bring up the governor helping trial lawyers but briefly and let Richard Carbo (JBE's press guy) have the last word refuting the issue.

"CONVENIENCE" store, not grocery store. They make money on inside sales, not with Gasoline... for the small local owner, any way.

Party affiliation doesn't really matter. I mean Fred Mills isn't exactly your poster child for conservatism.
ETA, and Harris deserves to be targeted. He refuses to compromise on anything. He sponsored legislation in the first special session to extend the sales tax, and opposed nearly identical bills in the second session. He is an obstructionist who brings no sort of actual plan to the table which is a shame because there are a few capable Republicans (Ivey) who could actually get a conservative agenda through.

I hear ya' (and agree for the most part). But that is a terrible excuse for an article:
"Yeah we went after Republicans only but c'mon, party affiliation doesn't really matter."

The adults came up with a plan and sent it to Honor Code, who vetoed it. Harris is a POS, much like 99% of every other a-hole in the legislature, but just because Edwards did not get everything he wanted does not mean that no one came up with a plan.
The rift between the House and Senate is because senators, like the governor, love taxes because each dollar collected is another dollar of taxpayers money that they can access to enrich themselves and their friends. Senators are more politically secure, and their smaller numbers give them much more power, so they love a bloated state budget, whether republican or democrat. Representatives have to work harder to keep their jobs, so a few of them are actually conservative with tax dollars, thankfully.
