You called one guys post ignorant!
Then you said it was because you didn't like his tone! Not sure you know what ignorant means.
You claimed that just because some people think New York is anti business doesn't make it right. Well what does it make New York when business leave due to over regulation?

if you're ranked 50/50, that's pretty indicative of being anti-business
well again it presupposes that at least one state is "anti-buisness", which i don't think is true.

Well just because a small portion of New Yorkers don't think they are anti-business doesn't make it true!

it depends on what you define "anti-business" as

Yeah, my peeps are from New York and Pennsylvania. There is a direct correlation between those who are successful and have solid standards of living and how quickly they got out of those dying Eastern communities. Small town blue-collar life in those regions suck balls compared to elsewhere in America. I guess if you are a hedge fund manager in Connecticut it's pretty pimp.

How are you guys celebrating this, this is going to kill a lot of people's jobs in New York, they have a choice either move to Alabama or lose their job, are you serious, this is putting hundreds of New Yorkers out of a job and you all are celebrating
How many people do you know would move from NY to Alabama, not many
This will ruin people's families and tear apart their kids social lives if they move. Think of the kids extra curricular activities they are a part of and the friends they have in NY.
The folks in Albany should have thought about this before they passed that stupid SAFE Act.

The same way celebrate getting a new coach not thinking of the dozens of people that lost their job.
I don't blame the people of NY for their mistakes, but I don't mind them paying for them. (Not the employees)
Websense and Phantom technologies are two multimillion $$$ companies moving to Texas from California to escape the anti business tactics of the state.

Here's a video on the model Remington will be making in Huntsville.

New York has a higher per capita income than Alabama and NYC is one of the wealthiest cities in the country. There are parts of Manhattan and the Hampton's that will put the nicest places in Alabama to shame. To say that New York is going to lose to Alabama in the long run is laughable.
Wall Street and the barons of capitalism call New York their home. Ask them if they want to live in Alabama. Heck ask them if they can make the type of money they make in Manhattan in Birmingham. Ask Donald Trump and the Harringtons and the Rockefellers if they want to live in Florence. In fact they laugh at Alabama for oh so many reasons.
The Remington plant will pay around 150% to 200% of minimum wage. Hardly the stuff that dreams are made of. In fact most New Yorkers and many economists see Remington Plants as good riddance in a day and age when capitalism makes more greater profits on the trade, finance, and banking industries in the post-industrial age.
Short-term this is okay for Alabama but no one with any brains even the most conservative economists sees Remington plants as the future for any communities in the USA.
Sure a loss for New York but jobs like this can be just as easily taken away from Alabama. Remington sees Alabama as a place of cheap, pliable labor. If that is what you want to hang the future of Alabama on go for it. Cheap docile labor can be found in oh so so many places and the technology can stay in New York and the cheap docile labor can be found anywhere. New York invests its money differently than Alabama. Fifty years from now New York will still have a higher per capita income than Alabama and have industries less willing and able to move. They will still have Wall Street and Banks and more millionaires per capita than Alabama and the Remington Plant in Alabama will be shut down while banks and brokerage houses will still be open and humming and making more money in New York.

Hey Ralph, it sounds like you're pulling for the rich capitalists in NYC instead of the downtrodden proles in Alabama. The rich guys up there need to share their wealth.

I'm not rooting for them. I'm just telling you that they are not your friends. The reason why they are putting their plant in Alabama is BECAUSE it's downtrodden. In fact they want Alabama to stay downtrodden for the cheap, docile labor. If Alabama becomes non-downtroddent they will leave ASAP.
Plus the real profits from this plant will go to stockholders of Remington and to brokers, and bakers and stockbrokers in New York. The real money from this plant won't be in Alabama. Enjoy the jobs while you can. it is a job that requires little skill and will result in very little investment in human capital and will leave in about 20 years and having little left to show for it.

Hmmm...Bama's getting good paying jobs with benefits where currently these jobs do not exist. How is this bad again? If anything, it drives up other wages locally as employees will now have more options for employment. Dumbass.

Especially when the taxpayers bail them out - or has that already been forgotten?

It's not bad short-term, but there is no future long-term in building things that can and will be made in places of cheaper labor.
You will soon see Mercedes, Hyundai, Remington, and Honda make their vehicles in a place with greater returns on capital. Enjoy it while you can but the real money and they money that stays will be in Germany, Korea, New York, and Japan.
