Trump put heavy sanctions on any firm helping to construct the Nordstream 2 pipeline, which increases the flow of oil to Germany from Russia.

LINK

quote:

President Donald Trump has signed a law that will impose sanctions on any firm that helps Russia's state-owned gas company, Gazprom, finish a pipeline into the European Union.

If I am not mistaken, those are the actions of someone that Russia has in their pocket.

What did Biden do?

Oh, yea, remove those sanctions and then move the senate Democrats to use the filibuster to block a bill that would reinstate sanctions.

By the way, that filibuster was used one week prior to his claims that the filibuster was racist.

What do you think we planned on doing with our resources? How else could America have sub $2.00 gas prices?

We were building a surplus of resources to sell to Western Europe.

Kiss that goodbye when Trump lost.

This scenario doesn't end the way you imagine.... Germany was going to eventually lose to the Soviets regardless of American involvement. Without the Western Front, it would've just ended up with not only a Communist Western Europe, but a Western Europe directly controlled by the USSR. Possibly England as well, eventually.

So we are going to allow NATO partners who do not pay their financial obligations to negotiate terms with Putin. We are not at the table allowing other nations to come up with terms where we have military personnel and assets stationed. This is fricking incompetence on a whole new level. This is a monumental frickup that is going to potentially have very bad consequences.

Thanks for that. I agree with Trump on this one, but Dems and republicans were aligned in opposing the pipeline according to the article. IMO, The pipeline poses risk to Russian and the EU. The EU is about to test Russia, in the mean while in importing more LNG from the US.

The EU is going to give Russia what it wants since it is winter and Germany gets a massive percentage of its oil from Russia.

In 2017, it was nearly 40% of total gas imported.
quote:

Eurostat estimates that Russia is responsible for between 50% and 75% of Germany's gas imports
That is from 2018.

That was pre-Nordstream 2.

The EU cannot and will not oppose Russia without severe consequences.

They likely don’t have the infrastructure to take in enough LNG and oil from other western countries or us to make up the difference.

The EU is beholden to Russia, and the president YOU voted for is fully onboard with that.

You basically support Putin. This is great.

This is hilarious.

That LatinTiger guy basically voted for Putin.

Claimed one candidate was beholden to Russia and voted in the candidate who actually acts in Russia’s best interest.

You have to find it somewhat darkly humorous that Europe was so fixated on mean tweets that it preferred to deal with a literal cold-blooded dictator instead. Remember when they tried to spin Trump's demands on NATO as him breaking it up? Now it seems likely that NATO's "leaders" in Europe are about to completely compromise the entire point of NATO.

Bro, read the post again. I was talked about NATO as it was originally designed. It was never intended to defeat a massive USSR invasion or ground war. It existed as a tripwire to guarantee the US would use its nukes to defeat the USSR. Today, it really has no reason to exist, as you pointed out the USSR no longer exists and the Europeans have reduced their military contribution to the point of uselessness. They do not want to confront Russia and don’t care if the Russians incorporate the Ukraine.

The US should do everything financially to hurt Russia at this point that it can. And Trump would have been rattling that saber for a year now. Biden hasn't done a thing but say "get out of Ukraine, and we can't help you". I wouldn't burn one single American soldiers life over Ukraine though. Europe wanted to paint Trump and the US as evil. Let them deal with it.

So the US ruined a continent that has been killing and blowing itself up since the beginning of time? I'd love to hear how. It's amazing that after the US became the #1 superpower there have been no wars in Europe.
