Sounds about right, he (Trump) won Texas by 9 in 2016.

People always do this. They move because of hardship and opportunity for a better life and then they constantly talk about how great it was back home. This was evident in the immigrants to the US in the early 20th Century. Everything back home is better, the food, beer, people. But why move if it was so much better?

I think young dumb asses and women voters are more problematic for Republicans than state to state migration.

Colorado is getting deeper blue and won't be back to purple much less red in my lifetime. There's enough migration into SLC and Boise to break their respective locks if it continues. I suspect Arizona will go purple before UT or ID though.

Why do Louisianians move to Houston but still post on the OT? Where people are from is a part of their identity. Who they associate with, the clique and social strata they see themselves as a part of or desire to be seen as is too. Democrats are masters at identity politics, of making people believe that their political opinions determine their social status. It seems absurd, but cancel culture is just as pertinent in every day life as it is in corporate America. If someone is vocally or even tacitly conservative, suddenly, a lot of people look at you differently. You’re not invited to the same parties, friends don’t want to be seen with you, etc. This social pressure is ENORMOUS.
In many circles, you cannot be respected as an intellectual or an artist if you’re conservative. You’re not even human, and deserve to be shunned if you’re conservative. Heck, I live in “red” Louisiana, but I keep conservative stuff off my Facebook to avoid alienating people. I’m delicate in my personal conversations to not seem too conservative while defending my ideals. I know that I would be ostracized from my groups of fellow musicians, upon whom I rely, if I were openly MAGA. I’m not willing to take that hit, so I continue to be publicly apolitical while making my opinions heard in the ballot box and in anonymous online forums.

It's not people moving, it is rapid demographic change.

And that is the way to do it these days. There was a time you could have discussions and civil debates about politics but those days are gone.

Those days have been gone for decades now

Austhole been blue for years.
May not be your cup of tea politically, and that’s perfectly fine. I just think that nickname is unwarranted for a city that boasts such a strong real estate market, economy, jobs, quality of life. Not to mention, the outskirts towards the hill country is quite nice.

Mentioned Austin once being red

Democrats leave a democrat controlled crap hole for greener pastures, why do they continue to vote Dem?
Because they are arrogant and retarded.
It's the same reason they think they can make socialism work this time.

The issue for Texas isn't incoming California Dems.
Then explain why suburban Collin County -- home of many Cali transplants -- had a higher percentage of its voters voting for Hillary than neighboring Denton County, which has TWO liberal universities in its borders.

Ohio and Iowa are trending very red now.
Flordia is still purple but the GOP has done a masterful job being successful there. DeSantis with a 65% approval rating is huge
Dems took Colorado and Virginia
2020 will show where MI, WI, PA, MN are trending.
Trump winning by 10 in Texas is better than his number in 2016. Abbott is very popular as a governor and George P Bush, I assume is being groomed as the next govenor or senator.

he Democrats are like a plague. They move in, destroy the area
I think this narrative isn’t as accurate as it seems. I think it is used as a cover for what is REALLY happening, which is a massive influx of illegal immigrants who are being corralled into voting through fraud.
Texas isn’t turning blue because 10,000 tech workers and accountants moved in from Cali. They’re turning blue because millions and millions of illegals have come across the southern border over the last 40 years.
I think the same tactic is used to blame white new age mothers for the growth of “irradicated” diseases claiming that it’s the work of anti-vaccers on Facebook and not millions of 3rd world illegal immigrants.

What are you basing this on? Southern States that have been ran by Republicans for decades rank in the bottom 10 in most measurable categories.

What southern state has been run by republicans for decades? Please, be specific.

Texas is growing faster and becoming more and more suburban everyday. For some reason that kind of environment produces more liberal people.
