It was in response to my e-mail to him the other day which went something like, "Congratulations on ensuring I will never cast another vote for you after that vote." That's it.
In response, I got this canned horseshite...

Dear Mr.,
Thank you for writing in with your comments on the second impeachment trial of former President Trump. This is an important topic and I appreciate hearing from you.
The House of Representatives impeached Trump for the second time on January 13, 2021 with the charge of “inciting violence against the government of the United States.” On January 25, 2021, the House impeachment managers delivered the single article of impeachment to the United States Senate.
At issue, are the events that took place on January 6, 2021. As you are aware, rioters violently breached the halls of Congress in an attempt to disrupt the electoral vote certification and the peaceful transfer of power. This was wrong, seditious, and ultimately resulted in the deaths of multiple individuals.
There was a vote on the constitutionality of having a trial for a former president on February 9, 2021. I voted that it was constitutional. We heard arguments from both sides. The House Managers quoted the Constitution, conservative jurists, including the cofounder of the Federalist Society, Founding Fathers, the Federalist Papers, and different documents that influenced the writing of the Constitution. They made clear that it is constitutional. They did such a great job that the President’s lawyers got up and said that they did a great job and that they would change their strategy. They then spent two hours talking about everything but his issue, except for maybe five minutes. They effectively conceded their point. If you disagree with my vote and would like an explanation, I ask that you listen to the arguments presented by the House Managers and former President Trump’s lawyers. The House managers had much stronger constitutional arguments. The president’s team did not. This vote was not a prejudgment on the final vote to convict. I’ve also heard that there are some folks who think that I should put President Trump above the Constitution. That’s not Conservatism. That’s not Republicanism. And I reject it.
While I am strongly against the actions that took place on January 6, 2021, I will keep an open mind at the trial and look forward to hearing the arguments of both sides and getting answers. Just like the first impeachment trial, I will uphold my oath to be an impartial juror and vote based on the evidence presented. Everyone, even a former president, is entitled to a defense and to have all of the facts be heard. The vote on February 9, 2021 was not a prejudgment on the final vote to convict. Please know that I understand all points of view on this impeachment trial, even those that disagree with me.
I will continue to represent the views of my state and do so through hearing from constituents like you. Please continue to reach out, either by phone or by email, when you have another question or concern. You can reach my office in Washington DC at 202-224-5824 or submit an email at LINK .
Sincerely,
Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.

Due to our tight fiscal situation, we regret to inform you we are still going to have to close your station. Good luck in Sherbune, John. And give your men my best. Sincerely, Governor frickhead.

Were you expecting anything other than a pre-written response? Pretty foolish if so.
Posted on 2/12/21 at 2:10 pm to GeauxTigerTM
He or the correct member of his staff have yet to return the voicemail I left him.
Posted on 2/12/21 at 2:11 pm to GeauxTigerTM
Received the exact same email.

That actually is a pretty reasonable response letter...
You have to agree that the question of whether it is constitutional to impeach a President after he has left office is independent of the question of whether this President did anything worthy of impeachment.

You must not have been reading the threads on these topics this week. The poli board is cognitively incapable of separating the two issues.

Ok, then explain what he said in his interview. It was NOTHING like this. He said the Dems presented a good argument and Trump's team was unorganized, so he went with the good argument. I'll await your response.

His original justification was garbage and made him look like a low-IQ fool. No disagreements there.
That doesn’t mean that the two issues are not separate questions.

You low goal piece of worthlessness. There is no need for a jury and you have helped to continue the charade.

I got the same chicken shite form letter. If he thinks this impeachment fiasco was remotely constitutional he needs to resign and go back to high school civics. I hope Cassidy was a better Doctor than he is a Senator. He sucks....
