I would likely put my holster on and open the door to assess the threat, if unarmed I would beat the living hell out of a couple individuals. If I assess a threat the pistol comes out and we will see who is the better shot. Before anyone says internet badass. As a former golden gloves and collegiate wrestler that is still as big/strong as most SEC linebackers and a graduate of High Risk Personnel courses I am more than capable of handling myself against 99% of the population.

I think it might be appropriate to fire off a warning shot... its interesting that these mobs dont do this in the south.

There is not a jury in the south that would convict somebody for killing these thugs in that situation. But, it would never get to a jury.

You are also a fool of the highest order.
You and your holstered weapon are going to do a lot of good against a 5'5", 120lb meth head with his gun already drawn. Also, your holstered gun isn't going to do any good, when Cletus, Tyrone, and Elroy jump your dumbass when you open the door, and while you are using your extensive hand-to-hand skills against Cletus, his two friends will probably be beating your skull with a a baseball ball bat.
The correct response is to protect yourself, and your family. If someone is trying to get in your home, you take whatever prudent actions it takes to get them to stop trying. If a window breaks and a hand is reaching in to open the window, you shoot. If a person is throwing their body against your door, trying to bust it open, you shoot. Any other reaction makes your odds far worse. Bad guys don't fight fair and will not take an arse whipping if they can end your threat to their goal.....whatever that might be.

I would suggest looking up your counties sheriif and judge. SAN Fran firing a warning ahot into the air might get you attempted murder.

If you are in your dwelling or car, you are usually considered to be defending yourself not your property. Home is typically used to refer to occupied dwelling. I’m unfamiliar with the Florida statute. I would think a definition of home would be in the language.

In the closet off my front foyer I keep a Mossburg loaded rock salt/rock salt/no. 4/slug/no. 4/slug. I would expect most intruders to run like hell after getting salted but I'd be ready and willing to escalate.
