Not to be forgotten, the United States also shot down a civilian airliner on Reagan's watch.

It's humorous.

If there was ever any doubt, please use this as reference to compare leadership styles of Obama and Reagan under almost identical circumstances.

I mentioned the Vincennes earlier. I have my own private opinions about that one.

Entirely different scenario.

Right on, right on.

The story in Beirut wasn’t over. In September of 1984, for the third time in eighteen months, jihadists bombed a U.S. government outpost in Beirut yet again. President Reagan acknowledged that the new security precautions that had been advocated by Congress hadn’t yet been implemented at the U.S. embassy annex that had been hit. The problem, the President admitted, was that the repairs hadn’t quite been completed on time. As he put it, “Anyone who’s ever had their kitchen done over knows that it never gets done as soon as you wish it would.” Imagine how Congressman Issa and Fox News would react to a similar explanation from President Obama today.

In all fairness that was over open water, and 30 years of technology ago.

These situations aren't close to comparable.
Obama has nothing today with the Malaysian plane or the Middle East that warrants criticism.

Reagan had moral courage and indignace over wrongs. Obama is a politician in a suit. That is all.

That may be true, Reagan was no pushover.

I agree. You don't have to drop nukes to be respected. Just them knowing that you won't hesitate to light their asses up is enough to keep them in line, for the most part.
The United States is no longer respected, IMO. Pens, phones, sanctions, and red lines will only go so far. Hell, we can't even protect our own borders.
