He has a wimpy presence. Ideas only get you so far...the stage presence and presentation generally get you further. Ask Trump.

Think back to the Republican debates. Rand just kind of blended in with the crowd and was dominated for face time by the other candidates.

He has the same problem his father had:
In a world of 3 hour weekly lecture class sized problems and 5 second attention spans, Rand doesn't know how to pitch difficult solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems in catchy 5-10 second slogans and soundbites. Rand can be right all day on policy, but if he cannot communicate to the American people why he is right in a format they can digest and understand, he won't get much accomplished.

Cruz has a better chance because he understands that better than Rand. He understands how to persuade. Cruz's problem is his voice, rhetorical style, and demeanor. To most, it comes across as "creepy", "fake", "preacher/car salesman"-like while also sounding completely smug. Even for those who agree with him, it kinda makes their skin crawl to listen to him. When you talk to him one on one, he doesn't sound even remotely like that. He needs to figure out how to sound like he does one-on-one when speaking to a large crowd without losing that energy and ability to sell a few memorable soundbite of relevant policy.

People like glittering generalities. Rand isn’t good at glittering generalities.

Could not agree more except to say Cruz is unelectable on the national stage, he has zero crossover appeal and would bring out the left to vote in droves against him.

I believe if Rand can sort out his message he could have a shot.

That's really an issue with the average American. Catering to the LCD is exactly how we got our last 2 presidents.

Exactly. That's the only way to get elected president. You can't fix the electorate from outside the oval office.

This.

Whenever candidates start talking about facts and figures and real issues they feel like the candidate is over their head and out of touch with reality. This is why W and Trump were so popular with southern and middle America.

Didn't Ron Paul actually win the Iowa caucus in hindsite in 2012, but they screwed him over?

He actually followed the rules of debate for the most part. I thought it was pretty cool. Most the other candidates broke them over and over again.
