I hope he's wrong... bottom line is, we're trying to get fair trade so, can someone tell us how we do that without tarriffs?
I’m guessing the play is to annex them and make them a 51st state.

Flats: If you put a tariff on something it will cost consumers more. PT: No it won't, because they'll just eat the tariff and not raise prices.

The business/country that reduces the prices (eats the tariff) does not get that money. Trade deficits decrease. No need to print money that has exited the country. Less money printing means no devaluation of the dollar. Less devaluation of the dollar means decreased inflation.

I prefer to pay more on stuff I choose to purchase due to tariffs because it beats the shite out of paying taxes so progressive freaks can have a tranny play in Indonesia.

I know, the government does.

In this scenario the ONLY thing that has changed is that DC has more a few more tax dollars. The Chinese will continue to dominate the market because they haven't raised their prices and the potential US manufacturer isn't any more competitive than he was before the tariff.

He and dad were once open border as well. They have a couple of blind spots. I'm with Trump on this issue.

A country that doesn't make anything is no country.

They'll just use tariff revenue to pay for tranny play in Indonesia.

Tariffs are an extremely complicated thing - I think we’ll see compromise some point soon. Maybe tariffs on certain items only . . .

He must have forgotten that Trump has already done Tariffs once and we had the lowest inflation in generations.

What the frick Rand…I know you don’t believe what you’re saying. Why the hell are you saying it? His response is on the level of something I’d expect from a HS freshman…just ignorant. What would motivate Rand to say something so obviously, and easily proven, untrue?

With a competent government we would us those additional dollars to work our debt down. It will be other countries paying instead of tax payers. Imagine this, we work it to where we can quit taxing our citizens. That is the ultimate goal but national debt will probably keep that from happening for a long time or forever it seems.

DOGE says hold my beer and watch this. It seems that you think this admin is not competent. Congress on the other hand is exactly as you describe it.

You could say that about any tax. I haven't done the math but I seriously doubt any tariff is going to make a dent in our deficit, let alone the debt.

People can talk "Made in the US" rah rah all they want to, but they can buy "Made in the US" things right now and they don't. They don't because they're expensive.

You rarely see people who understand economics (both micro and macro), finance and business against tariffs.

Regardless of your opinion on tariffs, this just isn't true unless you basically make it a circular argument where you have to support tariffs to be deemed someone who understands economics, finance and business.

The US will never be fully secure unless we make things like steel, aluminum, cars and trucks, ships, food and pharmaceuticals.

This is a better, more accurate argument for them, and it's also one that people who "understand economics finance and business" don't necessarily have to support.

I get your point. The options are for us to keep doing what we have been doing or change and do something to try and climb out of this hole. It’s really as simple as that. Learn from history or you are doomed to repeat it.
