those women are a little huskier than tennis players are usually, right? My god they are big.
I was looking at the black one, thinking that's an average high school Mike LB.

It's the US Open. She meant that her victories in Canada and NY were outside the US Open.

No idea what thread this refers to but as long as no children were mutilated it was probably okay.

Laguage translation issue.
What is missing an extremely key analysis about semantics.
Ostapenko is a foreign player who speaks English as a second language.
In many foreign languages, the concept of "manners" translates to "Education". In Spanish for example "mal educado" literally translates to "poorly educated" but it means "rude". Now imagine telling a black person they are rude vs. poorly educated. Huge difference. I think Ostapenko is a whining sore loser but I would stop short of the racist label.

Ostapenko berated Townsend after the match for not apologizing after she scored a point when her ball hit the net then rolled over. Yes, many people do apologize when that happens bc it obviously wasn’t what they were trying to do. However, not everyone does and it’s not always just lucky. If you hit the ball with enough top spin, it will roll over the net when it hits the tape more often than not.
Ostapenko was a poor sport to make such a big deal out of that one point after losing in straight sets.

Apparently Ostapenko was mad from the get go because Townsend came out during the warm-up period and instead of starting off just hitting warm ups to the basline as is customary, she immediately starting firing balls onto the side where Ostapenko was warming up. Of coure traditional manners and decorum are dead to young americans but Bottom line..if she had won the match it would not have happened. She lost and she got mad. Move on.

Yeah, the warmup pissed her off, too and the, “I don’t have to do anything” was in response for not apologizing after the net ball. Personally, I don’t love the apologizing after every tape ball falls over. Those points usually shake out in the wash. I usually raise a hand in acknowledgment after the first ball but I don’t apologize. Sometimes I’d rather be lucky than good.
And, yep. Ostapenko wouldn’t have said a word if she hadn’t lost in straight sets. I side either Townsend here.

I also give a half-hearted apology, only because it's a tradition in tennis. However, it's kind of odd. I don't have the best analogy, but by that logic, scoring a touchdown on a tipped-ball, making a field goal that hits the uprights, or hitting a Texas-leaguer would all warrant an apology. If I were truly sorry, I would concede the point.

There's an argument to be made here, that there's validity to this seemingly asinine proclamation.
Let them elect Mamdani, and this becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

When you hear an insult about an individual and then assume it applies to an entire race…you might be the racist.

Other than this one column in The Telegraph, which “media cried “racism”?
Yes. Of course. The media never cries racism about anything... like people leaving the curtains open in their houses, and global warming being racist, exercise and fitness being racist, math being racist, grades being racist, and everything being racist or a product of "white supremacy." Never happens.

Well she’s Eastern European. I’m not sure the libs like them all that much. They have a tendency of hating communism, and are pretty anti immigrant. That’s 0-2 with the media types.
