If BHO had done it in 2009, I would have been horrified and insulted.
If in mid-2016, I'd likely have been quite concerned, but would have been open to the idea.
And then I'd wake up and realize that John Kerry would have brokered the deal, and we'd all be speaking Talibani today.

I would have thought it was just as bad a idea as I believe it is now.

Probably bitched because Obama tended to capitulate to every foreign entity given his view of American as an evil, racist, etc. country.
Are we not bitching because it is Trump? I don’t really like the thought of inviting the Taliban to Camp David, but will grant Trump more latitude than Obama as I think he has earned it. Hypocritical, perhaps a bit, but I have greater confidence in Trump’s administration given his America First agenda.
