Your previously researched operating costs of a 747-8?

Yes, I was curious how much the weekly golf trips were going to cost.

As to private operations, in round numbers, I came up with hourly operating costs of:

757: ~$12,000/hour
747-8: ~$30,000/hour

Of course, the 747-800 has a slight speed advantage (35 knots) so there will be SLIGHTLY less time needed for flights.

When QF1 is turned over to the Trump entity, it will already have been "maxed out" and maintained with taxpayer money by the best mechanics in the world. So it probably will enter private service with a maintenance advantage compared to other 747-800s, but here's the maintenance cost comparison:

Trump 757: ~$2,500/hr maintenance
VIP 747-8: ~$5,000/hr or more

Trump’s net worth has DOUBLED since 2018. It's about 6 billion dollars now. He's killing it while in office the second time around. 2025 was far and away his best year of his entire career, at 2.4 billion dollars in income compared to 740 million in 2024.

With this investment climate and his sons' business savvy (they make his investments), no reason to believe that President Trump won't continue to kill it for the rest of his presidency. He will probably be worth at least 8 billion when he leaves office.

Aside from the political leverage on people/countries to donate to his library, Trump is President of the Board of Peace...for life.

In short, if 2022 private Trump (without a Library) could swing a 757 for private use, I am confident that in 2029, the Trump Library will be able to swing keeping QF1 occasionally flying.

When qf1 gets turned over to a trump entity.

See facts are like hard for attorneys.

Why lie?

One of the most important facts I stated was that President Trump has ALWAYS said that QF1 is going to his Library.

The only thing I asked Jbird to confirm was that having an ATP is more impressive than having just a commercial pilot's license.

For some reason, the WH won't disclose the actual transfer document from Qatar to the US. So none of us know what the document says regarding the disposition of QF1 after Trump leaves office.

It's hard to imagine an innocent reason for shielding that document from Congressional/public review. For all we know, it could direct that QF1 goes to DJT personally.

But, taking the President at his word, QF1 is "going" to his "library." The actual structural organization of the Trump Library is currently in flux. So, I have used "Trump entity," just to cover whatever form/part of the Trump Library that takes possession of AF1.

But you keep seeing it as fact.

Do you do that regularly in the course of business?

For all we know. Sounds scary

Why is his library different from any other former President? Why the wink wink air quotes?

Lol entity! Sounds nebulous!

You don't think a 747-800 that was "maxed out" to meet the highest specs in 2026 or 2027 and then maintained to the highest standards (for POTUS) through 2028 is going to have a maintenance advantage in 2029 compared to other 747-800s???

Do you think all the super secret stuff will stay onboard the aircraft?

Do you think they will just hand it over in it's current configuration to some nebulous scary sounding entity with or with out silly air quotes?

It's not Trump’s now, but it will belong to his library when he leaves office or do you think President Trump was lying here (or any of the other times he has said the same thing)?

Was it this thread I started explaining why the ICE-obstructing Milwaukee judge was probably going to be convicted?

I have no idea. Ask President Trump what he meant exactly by saying that QF1 was going to his library. Do you think the President was lying?

Thanks for the discussion. This will be close to a wrap for me. Cheers.

I know you don't really care about accuracy, so I probably wasted my time in spelling things out. You criticize me for using ChatGPT, but it's simply not worth the time tracking every bit of information individually.

You will just lie about what I said.

So, I will waste time with you one last time tonight to explain why the situation with the "Trump Library" is different from other presidential libraries. The final formal structure hasn't been established...and it's not even clear how many organizations are associated with the "Trump Library." There was/is a "Foundation" and a "Fund." Etc. Etc. Etc.

############

The traditional presidential-library model is:

Trump/private nonprofit ? raises money ? builds presidential library/museum ? facility ultimately transferred to NARA ? NARA operates the archival library

NARA explicitly says presidential libraries are traditionally constructed with private, non-federal money donated to a nonprofit organization established by the former president. The nonprofit foundation can continue operating things such as museums, event centers, educational programs and gift shops while NARA handles the government's archival responsibilities.

Trump's situation is unusual right now
There is a Trump-related nonprofit called the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation, Inc.

Recent reporting says that SoftBank contributed $50 million to that foundation in January 2026, specifically for construction and operation of Trump's presidential library. Eric Trump is reportedly a trustee.

There's an important wrinkle, however: the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Fund, another entity that had been taking donations, was dissolved by Florida for failure to file an annual report. SoftBank said its $50 million contribution instead went to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation, Inc.
