If he’s had promiscuous gay sex, he’s on the gay end of the spectrum, regardless of what he claims to be now

Bless his heart. I know the Bible Thumpers will make this guy some kind of celebrity, but he wasn't gay to begin with.

More likely, he’s still gay.
Either way, he’s obviously conflicted.
I hope he ultimately finds peace.

24 months until he's running a cult or for political office and gets busted for banging a man in a random gas station bathroom.

So you could go out and bang a guy right now if you wanted to? Because I couldn't. Because I wasn't born attracted to men.

Exactly, homeboy is still out there blowing dudes in truck stops. Just gotta save face so he can be accepted by his family and peers. This will probably end up with him putting a bullet in his head due to being unable to deal with the internal conflict if I were a betting man.

FIFY. Only bisexuals can choose. Gays and straights can't.

Everyone can choose how they act on their lust. Lust, itself, can be conditioned to a point. What turns people on sexually can change over time.

True.

I imagine a lot of this is to convince his family he's "changed".

I'm certainly not arguing that the Bible does not consider all of these things sins, but reading lists of sins in the epistles to be proofs that these sins are covered by the commandments seems to be quite the stretch

Being gay is a choice. Why the frick would you be hotwired to not carry on your fricking species.

Sexual deviancy and living the easy life of 1st world America has people with too much time on their hands and not enough to keep them mentally busy.

Right, because homosexuality has only existed in modern times and only in humans

Well that's the difference between cherry-picking from the Bible and doing some in-depth theological study. Great theologians have written on these subjects for 2,000 years.

If you're really interested in the justification for the lists of sins being rolled up under certain commandments, I can point you towards some good books, but I've got a feeling that you're not that interested.

Jesus said that if you look at a woman (or man, in the case of male homosexuals) with lust, you are guilty of adultery (7th commandment).

To be like Christ is to put away sin. If a person struggles with lust, they should marry a person of the opposite sex and engage in sexual intercourse to help ease that "burning" (not STD) of lust the Bible talks about.

In other words, to avoid thought-crime, marry someone you aren't attracted to/don't love to ease those pesky sin-thoughts.

Your feeling would be quite off base. I imagine I have spent more time with my Bible and other supporting documents than the overwhelming majority of Bible thumpers on this board
