I think calling covid a “nothing burger” is a gross underestimation.
It didn’t justify shutting down the world economy but it wasn’t a “nothing burger”.

going after more government funding.

The stress. Talking shite on here like some big bad tough guy calling a doc a pussy just for stating what he is seeing.
Doctors don’t have a monopoly on stress. If a doctor wants to jump into the limelight with emotional statements like those in the OP, they’re going to get push back. Especially when the stats are questionable.

I have tended to think Sweden handled this correctly, but was that their premise? That everybody was going to get it?
Yes. Everyone is going to get this flu variant eventually. Hopefully your immune system can beat the .1% odds. Good luck my friend.

I don't think perspective was needed there, but ok. 64 people is nothing. Trends are more important to follow.
I think it's needed.
Is it a trend or a surge? It's all relative, but comparatively to the other surges it does not seem to be the same.
Of course this may change, but at the moment it feels like fear mongering.

It was the flu+ or the flu++, I actually think its less than the flu. Meaning, it impacts the people in the last 1-3% of their life more harshly, but it doesn't really impact the whole population. A majority of the population has no idea they've been infected.
In the big scheme of things, its a nothingburger... it shaved a few weeks or months to the people that are already dead.
None of this served any medical purpose masks, vents, lock downs, social distancing, etc.
Its nonsense.

The all or nothing reactions on both sides is tiresome.

When you have a terminal degree in an area you realize sooner or later that if you want to find some dumb mfers look behind a degree. Some of y'all keep falling for the banana in the tailpipe.

I'm good... for now. When I get older, though, I'll be more worried.

I tell people all the time I know who I went to pharmacy school with, and some of those cats I wouldn’t trust to dispense tictacs or recommend a movie.

This morning's news in DFW on the ABC and Fox channels was about reports coming out of Houston concerning the "Kappa" variant. They are going to blow that up our skirts next, even though the WHO says that the Kappa variant is only a variant of interest, not of concern. They are trying REALLY hard to stir up the panic.

Like a doc in an interview said yesterday, when he sees a patient with chest pain, he may order an EKG, blood work, CXR, maybe admit the patient. He gets no pushback from the patient. This is the only disease where there is all this pushback and distrust of docs and their medical decision making.
Yes, those docs in public health are more liberal by nature. Yes the media is full of shite. Yes, politics has gotten too involved in this on both sides.
But this idea that your garden variety doc is just feeding you a bunch of BS for some ulterior motive is just out of control.

I don’t know if there’s an ulterior motive. I’m saying that the 98% number is bullshite. The LDH has vaccinated hospitalized patient stats and refuses to release them. Given the track record of public health over the past year, frick them.

I heard it was all black people because 80% whites are vaccinated

Not really, just because someone is a Dr. Or engineer etc. doesnt mean theyre not weak minded, I can tell you from life experience Doctors in general are some of the easiest marks for financial scams, conartists, trophy gold digging whores etc.

There may be some benefits to it but those benefits are statistically very small and since no medication is completely benign.
The completed studies seem to always get removed. Perhaps it has something to do with their funding mechanism?
For example:
quote:
Ivermectin has been used for more than 30 years for the treatment of several diseases. More than one million doses of the drug are administered daily, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Due to the low prevalence of adverse events with the use of this drug, ivermectin is considered to have a good safety profile and its potential benefit in other diseases is currently under investigation. An in vitro study of ivermectin in SARS-CoV-2 in Australia showed a significant reduction of viral load in infected cells. Subsequently, a descriptive study of 704 critical patients with COVID-19 showed a reduction in mortality, hospitalization, and intensive care unit length-of-stay in those patients who received the drug. Unfortunately, this study was withdrawn by its authors, leaving more questions than answers.
It is one of the many studies that have been pulled or buried. In the very least, it should make you question the veracity of the claims by the US NIH / CDC / FDA.

It’s weird how you don’t want to use percentages for death rate all of a sudden. Maybe that’s because you don’t like the picture it paints for you.
