She switched affiliation From Democrat to Republican last year but Democrat and Republican aren't registered parties for local elections, and a number of local politicians don't have such an affiliation.
The parties in PR are organized primarily by the question of status: (1) pro-statehood, (2) status quo/territory, and (3) independence. There are other parties but those are the big 3.
Pro-statehood, the current governor's party, tends to be mixed Republican/Democrat affiliation.
Status quo/Territory is primarily Democrat affiliated.
You can probably guess on Independence. FWIW, they usually sit center left in ideology.

Good but the Puerto Rican people are almost as stupid as the voters of Louisiana. She became governor because the elected governor had to resign due to botching the Hurricane Maria recovery and corruption allegations. She takes over and tries to tackle corruption and the swamp monsters of Puerto Rico attack her and cause her to lose her primary to a democratic lobbyist with strong ties to the former governor that had to resign.

Thanks for the info. Nonetheless, when PR's Governor is endorsing President Trump that's a good sign. Seems to me like Trump has been pretty good to Puerto Rico, so it's nice to see him getting some credit.
