I left Atlanta in 1986, not long after Marta opened those stations. Shame it has gone to shite.

It hasn’t gone to shite. I’m in Atlanta every single day and it’s a great city. I have never once felt unsafe.. I have never had a single black person call me a white cracker honky - Atlanta is great - the only people who complain about Atlanta are Louisiana people (because of their fake rivalry with the Falcons) and people who live in small shitty Mayberry towns who are scared of the big city

I was gonna say it was already bad when I moved away from there in 2009. Fine during the day, for the most part, but not a place to be at night.

I lived in Atlantic Station in the mid-2010s and never had an issue there the entire time. Even now I usually go there about once a week and it’s fine.

I love how MARTA gets blamed for ghettoizing parts of Atlanta yet Gwinnett and Clayton are probably worse with zero rail.

MARTA. That Lenox station opened in the early 80s and the impact was immediate.

Same thing happened to Buckhead because of MARTA.

That's why Peachtree City has been fighting MARTA off.

I will say that MARTA made it easy for us to get in and out of Mercedes Benz Stadium and way out to 75 where we parked our car though.

The White Savior speaks!

I haven't set foot on MARTA since 2010 when a crackhead stumbled on and thought he was taking a seat. He crashed to the floor and busted his lip with blood going everywhere.

Ypur description of Atlanta is absolutely asinine. It's a city run by absolutely corrupt scum and has been for decades. I'm sure you think it's racist that Buckhead wants to form its own city.

South Atlanta yes. I don’t ever visit the ghetto.. nice try though. I wouldn’t walk down the street at 2:00 in the morning anywhere in Atlanta but I wouldn’t do that in the shithole Mayberry town you live in either

And you are comparing a fricking Marta incident that happened 15 years ago to today? You’re a dumbass

Buckhead should be their own city - i don’t have a problem with that. I do t live in buckhead so I don’t give a frick what they do.

It was a great city in the 60s and 70s and well into the 80s. Big business loved downtown Atlanta ... it was The Pride of the South.

Now it's a shithole.

What happened to it?

Yep. And every other suburb, since the 80s/90s.

Yet most of those suburbs went to shite without MARTA.

Maybe, but it took 30 years instead of six months.

ive been going to atlanta off and on since 2001. a few times for work and mostly for SECCG with LSU. last time i rode marta was in 2005. only because then we were staying in a not too bad but not that great area close to the underground area by the old coke world. after that we always stay close to the georgia world congress center either at the OMNI hotel or the mariott marquis or hyatt regency close by centennial olympic park so we can walk to stadium. easy taxi ride to hartsfield from the hotel. no more screwing with marta. some of those old marta stops were seedy as hell. I much rather stay downtown close to stadium.

I stayed in buckhead before for a conference but that is too far out for a ballgame.

the area by the old turner field is absolutely not a good area. drove there once for a braves game in 2010 when i was working in georgia.
