My Lord, that is so sad and tragic.

These thug POS's that are running around out there starting even more fires to create more chaos, should be dragged into the streets and stoned until expiration.

When we used to burn the woods behind our property, the brush would burn in a flash and the trees would be unscathed. Something like that.

changing a firefighters status is complex. its not like promoting someone from part time to full time at target. and unless im reading it wrong, this applied to a couple thousand seasonal firefighters state wide. so maybe 500 live within a couple hours drive? and then what? multi agency cooperation in an event this size is extremely challenging
that veto is from 13-14 weeks ago. don't know anything about that bill and veto so I neither agree nor disagree with any of it. but let's say it passed late september 2024 - do you think calfire will have a solid plan in place with, say, station 5 pacific palisades fd? you can't just show up and start spraying water, running into buildings

Cal Fire has put out their initial assessment for number of structures destroyed by the Palisades Fire in Southern California.

5,316 structures are consider destroyed or a total loss… Insane numbers.

Here is their full statement:

“Los Angeles - An aerial survey conducted on January 8, 2025 estimates that approximately 5,316 structures may have been destroyed by the Palisades Fire.

The fire, which began on January 7, 2025 in Pacific Palisades, has grown to 19,978 acres and remains 0% contained.
The survey utilized infrared technology to gather data from the air. These estimates are preliminary and not final, and Damage Inspection Teams are actively working to confirm the actual numbers.

The 5.316 "structures" identified include residential and commercial properties as well as smaller structures such as RVs, sheds, or other minor buildings.”

If that person had full replacement cost for their home plus th $750k for the lot they could move to Midwest or South and live like a high roller.....one qualifier, if they're a CA liberal stay out of Missouri.
