So, you think the racist and hypocritical saying has more merit than the all inclusive one?
I think you assume a lot of shite that isn’t true.

The complaint is that black Americans are subject to unequal police treatment and that their lives should matter.

When you just yell “well, all lives should matter” you are completely dismissing the complaint without even analyzing it.
This is a bullshite spin and you know it.
Then why is it the majority of the outrage done when it’s a good shot?

Why and what does that look like?
a major reduction in number and severity of laws
primarily focused on non-violent, non-property crimes (ie, kill the War on Drugs)
completely reform civil asset forfeiture and require it to be done post-conviction and with a higher legal standard
eliminate public sector unions for police
create civilian review boards for police misconduct
more body cameras and harsher penalties for turning them off during incidents
harsher penalties for malfeasance and covering for/ignoring other officers' malfeasance
that's a good start that nobody should really be opposed to

You dizzy from all that spinning?
Tired from all those gymnastics?
All lives matter.
It's okay to be white.

All of your suggestions are solid ones and you seem to be a sharp poster. But the problem is that no one in the conservative community will take suggestions like these seriously until some minority communities get their act together.
You can’t ask for police reform, end the war on drugs, increase funding for whatever social programs, etc and then have the 10 o’clock local news report on two murders last night in the minority neighborhoods. Until this changes internally, conservative voters will just chuckle when seeing BLM protest on CNN. It’s sad but true.

Like Antonio Moss stated, I do not believe that every single person involved is trying to divide, but I do believe the ones running the groups are purposefully pushing divisive rhetoric for political purposes.
And I would argue that vast majority of those not in leadership do not seek division.
So it’s a problem when people dismiss their complaints off hand.

the war on drugs is likely a big reason for those murders

When everyone finally figures it out over the last four years that the numbers don’t add up; this is the spin you end up seeing.
It’s completely fricking predictable at this point.

And, again, even with the crime rate figures, you are still talking about an incredibly small number of people.

Because the first group is one that can be reasoned with.
What?

By definition, the second group wants the exact result they are seeking so they have no incentive to change.
So, if I read your stance correctly, the second group wants the same stance that the first one does, so alienating them makes sense and is ok because it will all end up the same.
Explain that better.
Oh i think i misinterpreted what you were saying. I thought you were asking why we weren't trying to reason with the people who are creating this divisive atmosphere with the BLM - saying there is no point in going to them cause they are creating what they want.
Just ignore me

Yeah, if only all drugs were legal then the violent crime statistics of a particular race would be dramatically different.
Lol.

Are you building up to calling me a racist for not supporting BLM? Because that is where I think this is going.
No, I’m not. I’m not even thinking specifically about race. It simply seems, as I said, that you don’t advocate a minority group, be it blacks, Christians, gun rights advocates, teachers or whoever, petitioning the government for rights simply because they aren’t the majority or people.

You can’t fully disconnect the follower‘s reasoning from the leader’s reasoning.
Because the followers don’t believe it is divisive, that doesn’t mean the stance isn’t divisive at its core.
I think this issue doesn’t necessarily follow that statement - although it would be true in most instances. The reason is because there is some merit to US policing practices and specifically how it affects black Americans.
quote:
You are essentially arguing for moral relativism.
The core objective has merit. Leadership uses it for divisiveness. Most followers see it for its objective merit.
I’m not sure that is moral relativism.

So your solution is to lessen the penalties for criminals, but make them harsher for law enforcement that may do something wrong?

quote:Likely, yes, they would.
Yeah, if only all drugs were legal then the violent crime statistics of a particular race would be dramatically different.
Remove the illegal drug trade and you would likely see a reduction in drug dealing and the crimes associated with it.
Create a black market and you see a spike in crimes, including murder.
We didn’t learn anything from the era of prohibition.
