What do you want changed?

3)End no knock raids
4)End the war on drugs

You are 100% correct regarding those who work and those who take. 100%. I framed my OP badly since, as a person who has worked hard since I was 14, I use that word to mean going about my daily activities. “Up and off to work” even on the weekends when I don’t go to my job. I should have said “go about their daily lives.”
Maybe, once the current foolishness is over, we can address the issue of those who contribute vs those who take.

Why? You do realize that when you break down the numbers to points of contact with each race white people are far more prone to be killed by police officers than African Americans right? There’s gonna be some bad apples and I do think it should be easier to prosecute those bad apples. That’s the only reform that is needed.

Demilitarize the police
End the war on drugs
Reduce/eliminate prison sentences for non-violent offenders
Require a level of investigation/accountability outside of the police force for allegations of police brutality
Regardless of your view of BLM, all Americans should support these measures. There is a lot I disagree with with BLM and this movement but we have a legitimate police problem in the US.

Start with war on drugs, eliminate low level weed crimes or just don't enforce them - I'd personally go further with the whole war on drugs, but lets start with baby steps.
Have national oversight panel to investigate police misconduct and tracks bad cop reporting - try and get away from local officials making calls on investigations. That should help restore some public trust in how these are handled and make it appear above board.
Pay cops more money to attract better talent, provide incentives for good conduct potentially - like if NYC saves some of the $300 million they spend on police misconduct payouts, return that to the offices to help change the culture.
A few things off the top of my head, there are a whole lot of common sense type reforms that could make the police force stronger, more publicly trusted, etc. I'm sure some people more versed in this topic would have other reasonable suggestions.

but we do need major police reform
Pay cops more in order to get better cops?
Arrest them if they have a bad attitude?
Disband and reorganize every department at every level?
Does this include CIA, FBI, etc.?

Explain this. Do you mean getting rid of the super mean looking uniforms?

Are you a democrat? Seems like we need police reform in Democrat held states with Dem government, mayor, AG.

They can start with attitude. You’re lying to everyone and yourself if you’ve never ran into a cop or have seen a cop on video being a dick because he think he’s untouchable.
Look at this fricking prick. There’s no need whatsoever for this guy to do what he did. frick this guy. They can start by getting rid of guys like this. You know this attitude was molded by getting away with this garbage for years.

I think the Silent Majority exists, which is why Trump won in 2016.

Until the truth of this is admitted the “change” that so many claim they want will never happen. This is why I don’t take any of these leftist movements seriously. Deep down they know this as well as the rest of us. But it doesn’t fit the narrative so they ignore it. This proves they’re only interested in advancing their progressive agenda.

Regulate expenditures on military-grade equipment. A local sheriff’s office doesn’t need a fricking tank.
The hard truth of the matter is that law enforcement will never be a field that attracts incredibly intelligent people and when you give people with average to below average intelligence military-grade equipment, they will find a reason for using it.

The “massive protest” (every media source terms it this way) drew 200,000. Help me with my math here but that looks to be 3% of the population.
200,000 / 6,200,000 = .032
Meanwhile 97% of our society is going to work, feeding our kids and being held hostage to these peoples shouted demands as they throw temper tantrums and burn our businesses?

yeah there was a thread a few days ago with the Bama NAACP demands and it was mostly reasonable
this reminds me of a few weeks ago when MAGA folks were all upset at the FBI illegally targeting Flynn and i made this very point (about how they need to accept this as a macro issue). i was, apparently, not persuasive

The major reform I can think of that we need is if your profession received public tax money, then you're not allowed to have a union. Police, fire, teachers, the road paving workers, etc. Anyone receiving a majority of their operating budget from tax dollars answer to the public and are not allowed to be protected by some corrupt union.
A major part of this police shite is the unions that protect them and make it extremely difficult for the good officers to weed out the terrible ones. I used to be a firefighter and saw it firsthand. Absolutely shite people sitting around waiting on that sweet pension to kick in. While 99% if the guys are good individuals and there because they really want to help. The benefits are an extra, not the entire reason for being there for those guys.
