In 10 days they have gone from a traditional education model to completely online.
My two kids have been in Zoom classes all morning and I can hear them in the other room actively participating in the learning process.
We give teachers a hard time, but this wasn't easy and they deserve our thanks for making this as smooth as it has been.

well good for you.
meanwhile, mine still believe this is vacation. my 11 year old daughter is fighting all work, even the fun science experiments. it's not like she's going to get on some social platform either with friends. she's just missing vegetable time.

That has not been our experience in North Miss. We Have gone to pick up packets and assignments. Some online stuff starts Wednesday, but it doesn't sound like it will be instructor led.
We will see.

Any idea what they are doing in poor districts where kids don't have access to computers at home? I don't know what we are going to do with my charter school in Memphis, most don't have access to computers at home

My community here in Alaska is out teaching kids how to trap and skin beavers, wolves, and foxes. True story by the way.

Because your kids’ schools aren’t doing distance Learning?

Our phone message said Calcasieu parish can't do online classes because they cannot guarantee everyone has online access. Such bs.

My son's teachers have been on his arse about getting his online work completed on time. I've had one email me about it. To me it's working great in AP.

We are in North Mississippi and two of my kids had their zoom meetings all morning. The elementary school child had an assignment on the ipad to do and the teacher had a prerecorded message for him this morning.
School provided Macbooks for the two older ones and the option for an ipad for the youngest. We already had a older Ipad not in use which works fine for his classwork.

Not the OP, but we are in Oxford, and so far everything has been running online.. Wouldn't call it smooth yet but they did attend most of their classes this morning via Zoom. Sometimes the kids get the times wrong or don't have the correct login. But they all have been doing schoolwork this morning.

I have 3 kids in AP schools. I really hope they consider using this technology moving forward. I told my wife last night that it would benefit some parents to see recorded videos, especially math, to help with homework. Especially since most kids don’t bring any books home and most parents wasn’t taught math the same way they teach it now
