I’ve heard some districts are loading up school busses with breakfast and lunch then driving around to their usual stops in the morning. That is the most efficient way to distribute food because the drivers would already be doing that route so it’s budgeted and the kids don’t have to figure out a way to get to the school for the food.
I hear what you're saying, but respectfully disagree (in regard to efficiency). That is a tremendous expense for gasoline and paying for drivers. However, both should be commended.

Parochial schools in Tennessee are using “Schoolagy”
Today was 1st day. Once we broke up the Fortnite game some of the kids started on their home PC’s everything went well.

Anyone having bandwidth issues? Granted I have one taking classes from Philly and one from NOLA, out of lower Alabama.

All without needing the dept of education to tell them what to do. Crazy how a lot of folks will do their job and do it well without instruction or coercion from the federal government.

Schools in Decatur closed Monday, three days earlier than the state-required Thursday closing, and virtual learning began immediately.
Virtual school is going well, he said. One teacher is continuing to teach Advanced Placement Calculus, connecting with students through Google Hangouts. Another teacher is reading virtually with her kindergarten through 2nd-grade students. Principals are doing virtual updates, and one taught a math lesson virtually for his entire school, "just as a brain teaser."

I get what you are saying, but in terms of budgeted dollars, it’s money already spent. If the kids were already going to get them meals and the bus drivers were already going to be driving, this takes the burden 100% off the parents. In an ideal world no parent would have an issue paying for their kids lunch or getting meals picked up, but a ton of these parents lost their jobs this week.

From your link:

State education officials said districts couldn't require students to spend time learning, but schools were free to provide opportunities. And technically, teachers are still working even though schools are closed.
Many systems are providing opportunities for kids to learn but not one kid has to do any of it.
This is because of equity issues.

That's what my school district in San Jose in the middle of frickin Silicon Valley is saying. Parents are pissed.

This may very well be the same in the entire country.

Fuel is very cheap right now and is already paid for in this school year’s budget. Bus drivers work very hard and deserve at least a little paycheck instead of getting laid off completely. Some substitute teachers are still getting paid do bus drivers certainly should.

The bus drivers are state employees and you will be paying them regadless as are the food service workers, the gas is the same as running busses anyway.
zero additional cost

Everyone should be uneducated because one crackhead had a child and can't afford a $200 lap top.

Nah, I have multiple friends who drive buses and they are hourly. They are not being paid anything right now.
