Horrible situation, could see that happening in BR with our idiot judges and our Mensa mayor emasculating BRPD. Good job by that officer ensuring this scum won’t be paroled again.

This lady’s death is a tragedy, and I am not minimizing that in the slightest ... despite the fact that most comment/responses will claim otherwise.
Lots of articles mention the suspect’s many arrests, but I have not seen any mention of convictions in the several articles I read. Has he ever been convicted of anything significant? anything other than a misdemeanor?
Setting that aside, it would appear that he has a history of mental illness. Apparently, he had just been temporarily committed late last year and released only very recently to a halfway house.
it strikes me that this is more of a story about the failure of our mental health system, than about the failure of our criminal justice system.
Once again, this thread demonstrates that many people do NOT understand the purpose of release on bail ... which is designed to assure attendance in court by a non-convicted defendant, rather than punishment of someone who has NOT at that point been convicted of the crime for which he is facing prosecution.

There are also far more Whites than Blacks in this country. It also stands to reason that more interracial crimes by Hispanics would be committed upon Whites than upon Blacks.
I have not taken the time to run the numbers, but I suspect that the numbers may be SLIGHTLY disproportionate ro demographic representation. My first thought is that this would be a result of economic factors more than anything else. Most crime IS economically motivated.

I thought The Heights was still pretty mixed, demographically. That was the case when a buddy bought there 20 years ago. Has it fully gentrified now?
