Trump is never going to embarrass him in public, especially Putin being an alpha male. Putin needs to project a powerful persona. Behind closed doors, Trump is going to lay out exactly what will happen if a deal is not made. He's used Trump before to get delays. Trump has had it.
Edited to add. I learned the other day that Putin does speak English, but never in public.

Trump is not doing anything. He’s set and then extended so many deadlines on Putin. 15 days ago on July 28 he set another deadline at “10 to 12 days from today…it would be sanctions and maybe tariffs, secondary tariffs”. You all can do the math and see that deadline has passed.
The only thing he will do after the Alaska visit is set another deadline that he will break

I'm not sure what people expect.
Trump is a fine negotiator when he's got the United States behind him and is prepared to use some amount of that power to get a deal. Ie, tariff negotiations, etc. regardless of how you feel about the value of those deals.
He's been repeatedly stymied by Putin and Zelensky because he doesn't have a great hand. In Iran, it worked because he knew he could authorize a limited major strike without alienating his base/going back on his ethos for foreign policy.
I don't think he can threaten Putin to resume support of Ukraine in full throated fashion in the same way or exceed that without facing a political reckoning from those who elected him. And I don't think he wants to do it, and even if he did, I don't think Putin would find it particularly credible and knows Trump is probably going to try a different tactic 2 weeks from now even if he blusters on support for Ukraine's continued combat.

The Left and the Swamp will fight teeth and nails to keep Trump from having “the win” with the war

Zelensky was in the White House when the president of the United States yelled at him. That’s 100% allowed. Probably frowned upon and unprofessional to do it in front of cameras, but 100% allowed.
Trump isn’t yelling at anyone tomorrow outside the White House. Contrary to what so many believe about Trump, he knows decorum and he knows his place.

Ukraine is running out of fighting men. It's over.
Interesting observation. Please explain why, in spite of the enormous size and population of Russia, Putin has has had to hire mercenaries from all available sources to fight his battles for him. Those North Koreans and "Volunteers" from African nations stick out like sore thumbs.

Not endorsing the underlying premise, but why wouldn't he?
Letting foreigners die for this cause seems less likely to jeopardize Putin's authority and keep a lid on domestic discontent

quote:Yeah, so I bookmarked this made up scenario to remind you of your 2016 mentality of Trump being a low IQ idiot. It's just like Van Jones's communist arse told CNN viewers after the election: Ya'll kept thinking Trump was an idiot. This isn't fantasy football, it's diplomacy. Try to keep up. He's not going to Alaska to meet Putin as a, "ploy," and EU leaders having emergency summits to address their concerns is not because of a, "distraction."
The most likely scenario is Trump says "I wanted to see him in person to determine if a peace deal could happen. Unfortunately Putin is a bad man, so we left early."
You don't have to fly to Alaska to determine this.
I'll make up my scenario, but with a caveat that its origins come from informed people on the matter that you won't hear about on Fox news or MSNBC: the reason EU leaders are concerned is for many reasons. It goes without saying that this war has been critically important for Germany's economy especially, and EU leaders don't want their cash cow keeling over. This meeting is likely not even primarily about the war, but with the war being the catalyst to make a deal. Europe, especially Great Britain, has been a middle man between America and Russia since post WW2. It's not a coincidence or a, "ploy" that Trump has been talking about Greenland from day 1: The arctic is the new New World, and whoever develops it makes the rules for the next hundred years at least. It's not a "distraction" that they're doing this in Alaska - optics is something Trump is a mastermind of.
If America and Russia can cut out the middle men and partner in developing the Arctic and its shipping lanes, energy resources and precious minerals, then it would be one of, if not the, most monumental achievements to put America back on track and in control of our destiny.
I don't think we will hear much at all in detail of what's talked about, and that includes a peace deal, but Trump's remarks afterwards might be telling enough. I imagine a final scenario (assuming globalists don't crater it) where a deal is hashed out in Ukraine so that the 2 superpowers can fry much bigger fish, i.e., developing the Arctic region. Whoever gets the Arctic gets the worm, and there's only 2 countries uniquely positioned geographically and/or economically to feasibly do it in a swift manner, but they must work together to see it come to fruition and benefit from it.
The number 1 goal of GB and the other EU nations regarding foreign policy has been to keep America and Russia at an arm's length distance diplomatically speaking, and career D.C. scum has gladly obliged - for a fee. If we can partner in developing the Arctic and normalize relations, it will turn world diplomacy upside down, and we will be better off for it.
One thing is for sure: it's not to distract and piss away time, and it's not only to appease that piss ant Zelenskyy and his rapidly declining population of a country. Trump is many things, but he's not an idiot. I don't know how many times it must be said.

Getting along with a Russian leader would make Trump literally NOT Hitler.
Idiot sheeple are going to be so confused.
