That is two separate incidents. As a whole the post office does not operate with a budget from the taxpayer. They operate off sales revenue. Please show me in the federal budget how much is allocated to the usps each year. Dept of defense get so many billions USAID used to get so many billions. HHS gets so many billions. So please show me how much of the federal budget goes to usps

The USPS is not losing money because their service is so good. We all have stories of late or lost packages, mail and packages delivered but left out in the weather in odd places, ballots left in ditches.

Tracking on USPS is damn near worthless.

It would be interesting to have DOGE look into USPS.

The post office runs billions in the red every damned year. EVERY YEAR. On a good year they lose <$2B. On a bad year, it can be close to $10B. Just because they aren’t legislatively allocated money up front, doesn’t mean they aren’t getting taxpayer money. The US Treasury (taxpayer money) “loans” the Post Office money every year to cover their debts…..and that money is never repaid.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress provided the Postal Service with a $10 billion cash infusion. President Biden then signed the Postal Service Reform Act into law last year, which erased $107 billion in obligations from the agency’s books.

Actually the deficits are due to not prepaying future retirement and health benefits for the next 30 years for employees that haven’t been hired yet. Thanks to former president Bush. They default on the prepaid shite which isn’t required of any other agency in the federal government So that carries over. Letter mail may be down but packages are up and the post office wasn’t designed to make a profit. The post office has to deliver mail to every address in the US six days a week. Fed ex and ups spend a lot of money to deliver that “ last mile” to addresses that they won’t do. No one would buy out the post office because of the liabilities because of the prepaid shite. It’s a 438 billion company with a 488 billion liability. Who’s gonna buy that?

Did Amazon tell them to get fricked? I think Amazon is now using its own vehicles....except maybe for smaller, in mailbox stuff.

I don’t really care. I was responding to your incredibly preposterous statement that the post office gets no taxpayer money. That is an absurd thing to believe, because they get multiple billions every year.

That’s how you rig a national presidential election. Stuff those mail in ballots and date them however. Even move large amounts of ballots across state lines filled out en masse as needed. 190,000 new employees doing some demo work.

Our postal service has gotten to the point of being almost useless. Ive started hand delivering my bills. I had an insurance payment take 3 weeks to go 20 miles, I recently had a water payment arrive 2 months later to a company 5 miles away.

I just received a statement from a contractor. He said he would pass by and pick up his payment as he has no faith in the post office!

Mail is 95% junk marketing.

USPS has become a glaring example of an organization whose primary function has become ensuring its own existence.
