While Trump is a wildcard, it’s not fair to say he has no ideological moorings whatsoever.

I didn’t say that. But he doesn’t have an ideological commitment to freedom.

I didn’t read further.

Yes, you’re right. Trump voters don’t know who their “savior” is. Sighs

The pro-Trump arguments about his potential to upset the apple cart and wreck shite sound great if you forget that he's already been the president.

I give him credit for getting Mexico to agree to RIM after years of talking about immigration, but how lasting was that policy once Biden took over?

Trump is simply supported by the majority of republican voters. While there exists a significant amount of people who hate Trump, particularly in republican leadership and the donor class, the actual trump hating voters who would show up at a republican primary are a fairly small group, especially in “flyover” states.

The reality is that there’s no room for another candidate. It’s hard to convince voters who believe in Trump’s agenda to embrace a rival candidate when they don’t even believe Trump lost the previous election.

And pretend he won't be in a similar position in 2029 onward

And if stubborn, zero sum Ron voters like you all do the same, we’ll have 4 more years of tapioca brain.

But hey, at least you stuck it to Trump, right? Because your feelings are what’s really important here.

That’s the difference between me and you. I’d walk through fire for Ron if he were the nominee.

Ironic bringing up feelings when you're having a mini-melt and tantrum in real time.

There’s other categories of voters in the Republican Party than Trumpfags and Trump haters.

There’s also the tired-of-Trump. And there’s the I-guess-I-have-to-vote-for-Trump. The amount of voters that are rabidly in support of Trump isn’t even the majority of the party.

Team Trump claims he is more prepared this time around. I just think it would be four more years of navigating traps from the FBI, CIA, State Dept and Pentagon. I wouldn't have a problem with him taking that on, but he's not that sharp anymore and put himself in bad spots with J6 and the document handling. At best, nobody will listen to him and they will try to run out the clock.

Isn’t that part of the problem? That everything is CRs and EOs and undone on partisan whims. Our biggest problems are the ones almost no one talks about.

Joe and Trump are going to be your choices. All I ask is that you don’t stay home.

Creating legislation is still legal.

Trump signed of on some GOPE tax cuts that were legislation, and still exist today, for example.

The problem with that is that he never made any progrss in the previous 4 years. It's not as if he started off hiring Reince Preibus but 4 years later he'd figured out the game. He was still rotating Sec Defs right before the November election.

He's not more prepared, he hasn't learned and he hasn't changed. He's an easy pick over Biden but damn I hoped we'd learned something on the right and could make a better choice in the primary.

No, the difference between you and me is I’m under no illusion that Trump can or will “drain the swamp” after witnessing his first term combined with his comments about his desire to expand federal authority should he be elected again.

I’m not playing this boomer game of kicking the can down the road for the next generation to deal with.

Welcome back. I noticed you ran off last night after I gave you an opportunity to criticize DeSantis without ranting about his fashion.

Sure it is. We typically get them ladled with pork and bullshite, only to have the partisans argue over them until nothing is left. Again… part of the problem. The current system isn’t going to fix itself.

You are avoiding the question and you keep changing the subject. I’ll address other posters who don’t feel the need to run up their post counts.
