It is also possible that Sessions was not fully aware of Burt’s lobbying history

DC is crawling with lobbyists. The idea that this is somehow the smoking gun probably illustrates how weak and pathetic this Russian collusion fan fiction is.

100%

It makes them seem stronger than they really are.

It weakens the President and the US internationally.

2) The Russians are feeding disinformation to our IC in HOPES that it would leak to our press (it did). They figured the Democrats would happily believe the collusion story.

I'm going with option #2 because I know how paranoid and careful Putin is with protecting Russian information. For example, a few years ago he removed all computers from the Kremlin and forced people to use typewriters. Why? He was concerned that NSA had infiltrated Kremlin computers (and he was almost certainly correct). Story was from 2013: LINK
I agree completely. Although I'm sure we disagree on why this whole Russian thing is coming out.

Putin loves this. I mean it couldn't have worked out better for him if he actually would have managed to hack into every election machine in the country and cast every vote himself.

Also, "I don't believe so" pretty much sums it up. How many folks do you imagine a US Senator meets in a year? Probably tens of thousands. It is impossible to believe that he would know who every single of them is, or what they do , or that s/he would be able to recall every single meeting with each person.

So yesterday, Russia is the biggest enemy and can't be trusted. Today, even their lobbyists are trustworthy. I mean, are you even trying anymore?

This is the guys career with the Federal Government, it isn't like Sessions invited Ivan Popov to these events...

quote:

Burt began working for the United States Department of State in the early 1980s. In 1981, he was appointed Director of Politico-Military Affairs, and in 1983 Assistant Secretary of State for European and Canadian Affairs. In 1985, he became the United States Ambassador to Germany.[3] His tenure as Ambassador to Germany coincided with the beginning of the process that would lead to the reunification of Germany.[4] In 1989, President George H.W. Bush appointed Burt as chief negotiator for the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START I) between the United States and the Soviet Union, with the rank of ambassador.[1][3] The treaty, signed in 1991, limited the number of nuclear weapons that the two countries could have.

What a second......are you suggesting that Sessions should account for every person on a guest list for every party he has ever attended regardless if they actually spoke with him? Or only exchanged a greeting in passing?

Sessions is supposed to remember everyone he shakes hands with and who they work for?

Good grief

Right.

Also if there is any question McCain is working hand-in-glove with the Deep State, his question coordinated with Richard Burt's sudden and publicized appearance should sum it up. As Burt is apparently affiliated with Russia in some way, It appears McCain and the question's IC author are in collusion with him.

Here was McCain's confused and mumbled gotcha question:
MCCAIN: During that 2016 campaign season, did you have any contacts with any representative, including any American lobbyist or agent of any Russian company within or outside your capacity as a member of Congress or a member of the Armed Services Committee?

Sessions was attempting to be polite answering what he perceived as McCain's senility on display. McCain in fact could barely mumble the question. It was embarrassing.

Sessions was clearly confused by it, because of course he had contacts with representatives and American lobbyists. He also had met with the Russian Ambassador, as he had already described in detail.
