Officers who serve on the Portland Police Bureau’s specialized crowd control unit, known as the Rapid Response Team, voted to resign from the team during a meeting Wednesday night then alerted the chief’s office, a police lieutenant and the mayor’s office have confirmed.
The unprecedented move by officers and sergeants to disband their own team came a day after a team member, Officer Cody Budworth, was indicted, accused of fourth-degree assault stemming from a baton strike against a protester last summer. A year ago, about 70 members comprised the team.
quote:
“Our RRT members do not volunteer to have Molotov cocktails, fireworks, explosives, rocks, bottles, urine, feces and other dangerous objects thrown at them,” wrote Daryl Turner, then president of the union. He noted that the team members volunteer for the work without any specialty pay.
“Nor do they volunteer to have threats of rape, murder and assaults on their families hurled at them. They do not volunteer to suffer serious injuries, to be subjected to warrantless criticism and face allegations by elected officials, or to suffer through baseless complaints and lengthy investigations devoid of due process.”

Good, this shite can’t be sustained, until there is more pain, unfortunately

Good. Don’t blame them at all. I thought another team had all members quit last year so,e time though.

Sounds like there is concern there won't be manpower for upcoming unrest
Which, if so, is great

Merrick Garland is a partisan hack who refuses to prosecute these Antifa/BLM rioters who do actual destruction to federal property but allows for the January 6 rally attenders to rot in cells for months with no bail.

Live rounds one time would have stopped all the other nights.

How many did Bill Barr prosecute?

They'll just have to give these mostly peaceful protestors space to blow off some steam.

He was a jackass RINO Dem also, and those are just like your basic jackass Dems.

This is why most of us who back the blue do so. And when someone in uniform is accused of acting badly we give them the benefit of the doubt and wait for the entire story to come out before throwing them under the bus.

They're still cops for the city of Portland.
They just resigned from the special unit.

Portland is an absolute shithole. Let it burn.

It would be a thing of beauty if some of these Soros funded city attorneys and DAs would somehow end up being on the receiving end of some of this bullshite for once.

Good, now it's time for all of the white supremacists to descend upon Portland and really frick it up.

That's the first step. They need to leave.
To stay is to endorse how the City of Portland polices their municipality/people.

quote:Isn't it literally the RRT's job to respond to these types of situations? The issue is with the constraints placed on them in how they respomd.
