But don't underestimate the importance of Church's as well.
And more than that the local chicken joint (Blue Store for example) or gas station fried chicken.
Some of the best chicken I've ever had was definitely the gas station variety and not the chain.

God damn it - this is my go to Popeyes on MLK in Portland, I post about it like every week. Every employee is white or Hispanic and it’s arguably the best Popeyes in America. Chick Fil A level service - they even pull off the spicy chicken sandwich as lettuce wraps and extra pickles with zero problem and without much extra wait.

Popeyes chicken sandwich is the greatest fast food menu item ever created. It’s better than anything on the menu at any higher end QSR like Chipotle or Freshii as well. I’d go so far as to say it’s better than anything on the menu at casual sit down dining places like Cheesecake Factory, Macaroni Grill, or PF Chang’s.
The way the breading crunches against the soft brioche bun before dissolving into tasty flavour crystals (I cant eat that on keto but it’s perfection) and contrasts against the huge crunchy pickles and spicy remoulade is fantastic. Seriously a 10/10.

Chesters or Krispy Krunchy Chicken are top notch gas station variety.
Krispy Krunchy chicken tenders, (when not under the heat lamps for 5 hours) > Canes
Chesters Chicken Sandwich, tenders and sauces are all amazing. Tenders are out of this world and the sandwich is right up there...dare i say....with Popeyes

I’ve tried many times to get a sandwich or chicken at Popeyes and have yet to be successful. They’re either out of sandwiches, chicken, closed early, computers are down, or I simply can’t get to the window because cars don’t move.
After several good faith efforts, I gave up trying to get Popeyes chicken.
