this has been a case study in why UBI doesn't work. People with marketable skills and drive just keep working, while the low skill workers refuse to get jobs because it pays for them to stay home.

the irony is this is pretty much the standard policy of Europe during this whole crisis, which was praised by our media as the way to handle CV-19...and i bet you 100 SFP dollars that they criticize this plan being implemented in the US

I’m offering skilled tradesmen jobs paying $26-32 an hour and being told—

“No thanks. The $1,100 I’m making for sitting at home works out well for me.”

Not talking about five offerings here. I’m talking about hundreds of offerings and no takers.
