NPR/PBS/Marist poll:

• 41% favor a Medicare for all plan that replaces private insurance

• 70% support “Medicare for all that want it,” which keeps private insurers

Why are Bernie/warren/Harris running around telling people their plan will replace private insurance?

Why not just copy Biden and say “if you want Medicare, you can purchase it, but if you want private plan, you can buy that instead?”

It makes zero political sense

I can't believe these people are still pushing Biden as a real candidate.

Because Biden is doing what Obama did. Obama said "You can keep your doctor." Biden "You can keep your insurance"

And the thing is that it got zero coverage and I can't recall any of the major networks discussing it for more than 5 minutes because Trump completely sucks up all the oxygen in the media.

Is his plan basically Obamacare on steroids?

How is that supposed to work?

You would just pay a monthly premium for a medicare type coverage. Medicare already has a system for that, for people who are on Medicare but aren't yet drawing social security.

Because they are being honest?

Look, they don't like anything about private insurance, they want the government to provide it all.

But it creates needless drama

Why not just offer a plan with no premiums/deducts/copays/etc and still allow people to not have that but instead keep what they have

BECAUSE THEY HATE PRIVATE INSURANCE.

Their "base" actively seeks drama.

These people are not the compromising type, even if it means they might have a chance at getting elected.

If they hate it, why not just offer an alternative yet allow people who like it to keep it?

They also hate private schools yet they aren’t advocating destroying them

They don't really expect to pass any of this as actual policy. They're out-radicalling each other to capture enough of the fringe to make a difference in a field of 20 to eventually come back to the center in the real election.

Medicare is already a huge unfunded liability... it would become a mega unfunded liability if you opened it up to the general population.

They would need a more expensive version than current Medicare to make it work.

Because Warren and Bernie are communists and Harris is a follower with no real ideas or beliefs of her own. Look for her to start "evolving" her plan to the Biden version very soon.

These are ultimately the same thing. One just takes a little longer to get there

Liberals aren't much for the "hey it's not for me, but if you like it, roll with it" attitude.

They are more of "It's not for me, so no one else is allowed to have it either" attitude.

Oh, I've heard a number of liberals tell me that private schools are racist, are elitist, etc.

However, most of the lib politicians actually send their kids to private schools, so they can't advocate for destroying them.
