I don't think anyone is poking at him so much as at you.
"Nonviolent" could be anything from stealing a gumball, to jaywalking, curfew breaking, underage drinking, drug violations, driving without a license, "borrowing" a car, etc...
You tell us how the system isn't fair but give us *nothing* to judge that by aside from your feelings for the kid, personal observations and just a simplistic "he got arrested".
