I could probably type a hundred thousand words of things I would find interesting if I could have that information that I'd still don't think somebody should be compelled to turn over just because they want to run for office
But finding something “interesting” is not the point. The question is whether a given tax return of ANY candidate for POTUS would reveal otherwise-hidden facts that would change the views of the electorate vis-a-vis that candidate.
For example, HRC campaigned as a supporter of abortion rights. Do you think she might have lost a few votes, if her tax return included forms 1099 indicating that she served as a compensated consultant to the National Right to Life Committee from 2000 through 2016?

Again, Trump is within his legal rights in declining to release his tax returns. But it is disingenuous to claim that the release of such returns could NEVER provide information useful to the electorate.
It is "disingenuous" to claim that the media and Democrats (same thing) will even remotely treat the information fairly, especially after Harry Reid replied "We won" after being challenged for lying about Mitt Romney's taxes.
99% of the general public will not understand the information and will rely on the press and Democrats (because Republicans are cowards) to fairly tell them what the information is.
frick that shite.
"serious question" - If the media was as slanted in the other direction as they are in yours and Obama was business partners with the president of Kenya would you be hunky dory with everyone having the media and Republicans tell us what was in his tax returns?

Two things. First. You and I both know that the people asking for his tax returns aren't looking for any such thing. You know why they want them and trying to pretend it's for something like this is disingenuous in the extreme
Second the odds that a politician would do something so out in the open that ended up on their tax returns in such a clear manner are roughly similar to The Ides that I'm going to be climbing the empire State building next year

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. I say let's have all politicians show their tax returns.
let's go beyond that and require them to all release the source docs too.

I, as an American citizen, should see MY (rep/sen/city council) President’s (financial info) tax returns so that I know who is funding him(her/it/zhe). Why is that a controversial position?

Too bad that’s not an actual schedule, deficit would disappear from DC alone.

Oh, so somebody downvotes the obvious truth.
As I suspected the people arguing for releasing the returns are "disingenuous" liars.

Like most of the lawyers that post on this board Aggie comes here primarily for the purpose of stroking his ego in terms of debate

I'm a CPA, but I don't think looking at someone's tax returns will tell you much of anything without seeing the source docs. Other than income received and deductions taken (which truly doesn't tell you anything at all), what do you think you will see?
As an absoluttely hypothetical example, let’s say that a given return includes a 1065 for a partnership with Beria LLC. That alone tells me very little, but the name “Beria” catches my eye, so I do additional research. I learn that Beria LLC is owned by ten individuals whose names end in “ov” and who use the same Manhattan address. Further research reveals that all ten are Russian citizens, three of whom are in Putin’s inner circle.
The return itseld did not “say” anything damaging. It DID, however, allow me to learn something quite interesting (and potentially “important”) that I would never have known without seeing the return.

So you, and your firm, can do more than Mueller and $30 million - I guess you should send your resume to Pelosi.

I honestly don't give a frick about his taxes. Hell, I can barely stand my own...

If the media was as slanted in the other direction as they are in yours and Obama was business partners with the president of Kenya would you be hunky dory with everyone having the media and Republicans tell us what was in his tax returns?
Experts and advocates on BOTH sides would examine those forms, and I could evaluate the analysis from both sides.

Please tell me why we were not allowed to see Obama’s birth certificate

I've spent an entire career dealing with idiots like you. You don't know jack shite about tax returns or finances.
