Plaintiff attorneys are definitely supporting Jeff Landry

In my line of work, I have to work & play well with a wide variety of folks. That being said, I was recently catching up with a fairly successful black plaintiff attorney.
He mentioned that Landry wanted to make sure he was backing Wilson in the primary so that he ends up in the run off. The plaintiff attorney seemed almost gleeful to do Landry’s bidding so he could get on his good side. Made me nauseous.

Like that black attorney was voting for anyone else...
And, yes, as a proud Southern Law School grad (which spews out ambulance chasers on a regular basis), you can bet he's not going to shite where he eats.

Very informative post. Heavy on the details.

Man gets mad others look out for their business interests.

Smart move if true. Lots of dollars that he can place on the sidelines during the campaign. The last thing he wants is GumboPAC using its money like they did in 2015 and 2019.

Landry is also filling his warchest with plaintiff attorney cash and promising no tort reform in exchange.

Hewitt mentions smaller gov in one sentence, and mentions gov benefits for the children in a following paragraph.
But I’m old enough to understand all of these clowns are full of shite and nothing will change or really improve. So hand me a beer and let’s get ready for fooseball and deer huntin.

Not sure if he specifically mentions it, but Richard Nelson’s first ever bill in the legislature was the tort reform bill in 2020.

That's what you want from an attorney general.

No, the tort reform bill started in 2019. The one introduced in 2020 that passed was a watered down version of the 2019 bill.
Why didn’t Nelson vote to override JBE’s veto protecting our children from the LBTQIA+ agenda in the classroom? Real curious to hear your defense of him on that one.

Maybe he’s for smaller government and thinks it’s an issue for parents and the local school boards? Or maybe he doesn’t wade into the culture wars and wants to focus on fiscal issues?

A solution for a nonexistent problem in the state?
It does not exist. I have a daughter in high school and LGBTQIA agenda b.s. is not taught and is not even discussed.
It's just red meat cultural issue stuff to distract from actually handling real issues about the waste and abuse of your tax dollars pertaining to roads and infrastructure projects that turn into boondoggles that enrich the politically connected few.

Maybe because Louisiana has a myriad of real problems to fix.

And Tort reform is among the biggest challenges holding us back as a state. For someone willing to cut a back room deal with the good ole boy trial attorney bar association, in exchange for power is frightening and IMO, disqualifies him not only to be Guv, be also a true conservative.
He’s a great deal more authoritarian than an actual conservative.
It comes down to this, if you self identify as a champion of Trump, Jeff Landry is your guy.
If you think LA needs a different approach, look elsewhere. I’m in the elsewhere camp in search of someone who will dedicate resources to tort reform, education reform, and building roads & bridges. You know, stuff that falls under the purview of the Guv office.

I’ve been championing tort reform for years. I played a role in keeping the 2019 bill alive when it nearly died in committee.
The notion that Landry is in a cabal with the plaintiff bar is a calculated attack on him designed to keep him from winning outright in October. It’s not true and it’s bring done intentionally to suppress conservative voters from turning out in the fall.

This highlights how crucial the legislative elections are.

Agreed. We have many “Republicans” who run for the legislature in Louisiana who are either big government Democrats, or milquetoast Romney Republicans. We have very few actual conservatives. Hopefully that will change.

Idk, campaign donations are pretty telling.
