Looking at this another way, did the NYT account for previous years of the President rolling over his quarterly taxes to cover the liability for 2017?

The screenshot in the OP referenced line 56. I'd encourage you to go look up a 2016 and 2017 1040 for the answer you seek.

This series of tweets was completely pointless and it's sad this thread was ever stickied. I'm highly amused by the number of posters, including CPAs, who were blasting your average person for being mislead when they are clearly in no better position.
