As a cross-post from another recent thread:

quote:

Pelosi took a shot at Bush while saying that the scandal is a high priority for Obama. "He sees the ramifications of some seeds that were sown a long time ago, when you have two wars over a long period of time and many, many more, millions more veterans," she told reporters during her Thursday press briefing. "And so, I know that he is upset about it."

...

"Maybe when we go into war, we should be thinking about its consequences and its ramifications," Pelosi said while discussing the scandal. "You would think that would be a given, but maybe it wasn't. And so, we go in a war in Afghanistan, leave Afghanistan for Iraq with unfinished business in Afghanistan. Ten years later, we have all of these additional veterans. In the past five years, two million more veterans needing benefits from the VA.That's a huge, huge increase."

So throwing millions more patients into a healthcare system that wasn't prepared to handle it caused a massive failure, including deaths? Brilliant deduction, Nancy!

Now about this impending ObamaCare clusterfrick...

Your headline is really a stretch. The VA and the entire national healthcare system are two completely different things.

She agrees that adding more people to the system without expanding it is a problem. That was an argument ObamaCare opponents were citing. The systems might be different, but adding more patients without adding capacity is the same argument.

There were 26.4 million living veterans in the year 2000. There were 21.2 million veterans living in 2012.

True.

Though both the VA and the Obamacaid Exchanges mislead consumers into thinking their product meets standard of care. In both systems consumers will die awaiting their respective systems to perform anywhere near promised levels.

If Obamacare were single payer, you'd be correct. But it's not. There is a huge difference between the VA and Medicare systems and Obamacare. And the fact that you righties can't tell the difference speaks volumes.

What says even more is your inability to follow the OP's argument. It really isn't that complicated--Pelousy claimed the VA problems were caused by adding a large number of patients without expanding capacity. Obamacare does the same thing. Having a different set of middlemen doesn't change the arithmetic.

Edit: I was being unnecessarily nasty. Should not have said that.
