So, you’re cool with forcing someone to sell part of their company or commercial building to pay a tax on it? Just how liquid do you think these things are?

Should eliminate property taxes too, you only own property so long as you can pay taxes on it

He’s all about creating wealth until you have to get rid of it to pay taxes on it.

I agree it’s a Ponzi scheme. There are plenty of "responsible" people that lose everything though.

If I decided to start up an "investment" program, based entirely on how SS is set up and ran, I would go to jail quickly.

I'm good with that. Shut it down. I hereby donate all of my Social Security and Medicare tax I've paid into the system and will accept no benefits from the program. Likewise, let me out of the friggin program and I'll just keep that for myself. K? Thanks.

I’m assuming you are over my hypothetical cutoff age

2. SS is not a scam, it’s not retirement, it’s a safety net. Yes they take from your check and then have those restrictions on it, but so what? It’s there in case you lose everything. It’s not there so that you can go retire to Florida.

Ok, it’s official. You are retarded.

Hell yes it is. My father died a few years ago at 67. In a fair system my mother SHOULD get to draw both his and her SS. Nope, she only gets whichever one is higher and that's it. So if my fathers SS was 609 a month, and my mothers was 580 a month she'd get a 609 check not 1389 which she should because they both worked their whole damn lives and paid it in.
Now, another lady who lives down the road never worked an MFing day in her life. Never paid a dime in SS. Her husband died at age 68, and she gets to keep drawing his entire SS check. So, the lady that didn't work a day in her life could possibly draw more than my mother who worked for 40 something years. Bull f'ing shite. Just give me my damn money.

Again, it’s not a retirement account it’s a safety net. Your father is no longer alive thus doesn’t need the net to support him. You’re looking at it like it’s some sort of account that you have which accumulates over time and then at the end you have this pile of cash which belongs to you, that’s not what the program is.

If it isn't some kind of account for retirement then why are there different payouts for different amounts paid in? If it is just a safety net then everyone's safety net should be the same or based on some needs based calculation and not based on what they have paid into the system.

I don't need, nor want, a safety net. Give me my damn money in my check each month. And yes, my father paid in waaaaay more than he ever drew. My mother deserves that money.

It doesn’t matter if he paid more than he drew, like I said it’s not a bank account. And it also doesn’t matter if you think you don’t need the net either, if you end up losing everything which could very well happen you’ll have it there to catch you.

Personally I think it’s a huge government overreach and them being involved in something they shouldn’t be but that’s the way it is right now. Do I want to see it dismantled? Yes, but with hesitation. Doing so would be difficult and absolutely unfair to a couple generations of people who will still have to keep paying into it to support the current people dependent on it but knowing they’ll never receive a dime, And in reality having a safety net for society isn’t a bad thing.

It’s double taxation. So the small business owners pay income taxes on their own income, payroll tax, and tax on the gross income of the company Such is most likely quarterly and based off previous earnings which they better match because Uncle Sam gets his money first. It’s a ridiculous tax.

You need to brush up on your understanding of how businesses are taxed by the Feds chief.

I agree with OP. Payroll taxes (and property taxes) are theft.

I'm not sure how other states tax auto sales but in MO there's the initial state sales tax (4.25%) on a new vehicle purchase and then the vehicle is taxed every time it's sold......seems like BS to me. I could listen to an argument for why there would be sales tax on each sales transaction if the seller is a car lot/dealer but on private owner sales it makes no sense.

My belief, the vehicle should be taxed one time on the initial sale of the vehicle.

Take a little time when you're bored and add up all the taxes you're subject to. If you're a blue collar family with a household income under $200k/year I guarantee you're paying over 40% in taxes, particularly if you own a home and 2 vehicles.

Yes, I am. I've paid a shite-ton into the system. I'm not asking for a dime. Just let me out.

So how many times would you like to tax a person’s money?

Once a year or on every transaction
