No, I don't. You are making that moral claim, yourself, without justifying why anything is even "evil" in your worldview. I'm explaining that God is not evil.
Creating some for the specific purpose of torturing them for eternity is evil.
quote:
Justice demands sin be atoned for. Humans need a representative to pay for their sin, otherwise God could have just destroyed an arbitrary rock or bucket of sand or something. Human sin needed a human payment, and yet no humans have enough inherent value to pay for all the sins of all humanity, which is why the human also had to be God. That's where Jesus came into the equation.
Funny how when god creates billions of humans for the purpose of spending eternity in hell, it's justified because God did it and we can't question what he does.
But when it comes to the selling point of your religion, oh no, God can't do that because it won't be just. Gosh no he can't just forgive people, we need a sacrifice!
And that sacrifice can't just pay all sins, NOOOOOO. It can only pay the sins of those who believe they are saved by the sacrifice and worship the idol.
quote:
Again, you're confusing God's authority to destroy His creation with federal representation. Those are two different concepts that are joined in election and reprobation.
You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” 20 But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” -Romans 9:19-20
God has the right to make us and destroy us. He owes us nothing. The onus is on you to explain why God owes us anything, good or otherwise. You are asserting that God is evil for making us with guilt imputed to us already and then destroying us for our guilt (both imputed and actual). You're also not addressing the fact that people have actual sins to account for. You sin against God and are doing so right now, and no one is forcing you to do that. You are doing what you want to do. You are guilty.
It doesn't matter if people have actual sins to account for if they are already guilty. The outcome for both is the same according to you.
To the point of you think babies will burn in hell because you're a sick frick.

I recognize that I'm a minority on this position. I'll keep working towards that end, even if it doesn't happen this side of Heaven. I'm happy to have these discussions, share my perspective, and continue working (and voting) towards what I believe is the best thing for this country.
Like I told the guy upthread, you'd be surprised at what I would agree with in this context, especially the older I get.
My thing is that those of you who have decided that you want a theocracy or some other form of government need to accept that that can't happen inside what we have now. It would require a whole new government re-set.
What you want is, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others," a la Animal Farm.
That can work. Iran is an example of a theocracy that works, more or less. I don't think it's a particularly stable form of government unless you're willing to really crank down on people to force cooperation, but it exists in the world so it has to be possible.
But it can't work inside what we have.
What we could do within our current framework is what Andrew Wilson advocates for, which is Christians attaining to positions of power/influence and promoting Christian ethics and ideals just like non-Christians promote their humanistic ideals. It's not illegal to advocate for a law as a member of Congress and when asked why you support it, to say, "Because I think it's what Jesus Christ would want me to support." That's perfectly legal right now.
It's also legal for the government to promote Christian values as long as it doesn't promote them in the name of Christianity. For example, if enough Christians were elected to office there's nothing stopping them from passing an initiative to promote traditional family structures and values, even in schools. They'd have to justify it on the basis of the outcomes being better (which they are) and not because "the Bible says so," but there's nothing stopping that right now.
But if you have to have them say, "Because the Bible says so," and allow Christianity to be taught in public schools while nothing else is allowed, yeah, you can't do that in America in 2026 under this system. And if it ever gets to the point that you can, it won't be this system any more.
The idea of a theocracy is appealing on the surface. Make abortion illegal, the only legal marriage is between a man and a woman, no transing allowed, you could even go so far as to criminalize same sex sexual conduct if you wanted to. Make any sex outside of marriage illegal. You could require every citizen to tithe to the church of their choice. You could outlaw hard liquor if you wanted to, all drugs. Make sure that government assistance was only provided for those who really needed it and require them to contribute toward it any way they were able. Close up nightclubs at 10:00 p.m. Outlaw gambling and pornography. Heavily incentivize marriage and having children and women staying home to raise them.
I assume that if the idea really is to officially name Jesus Christ as the guiding authority of the country, a lot of stuff that is legal now wouldn't be (or again, if not...I'm not sure I understand the point.)
But something tells me it wouldn't work exactly that way. It's interesting to me that everybody who believed at the time assumed that Jesus had come to overthrow Rome and liberate Israel and establish Himself as the ruler of that country, but He hadn't. That wasn't important to Him then and what WAS important to Him then depended upon an individual relationship between men and women and God, not a corporate declaration of piety and dedication that would be guaranteed to fail (the Old Testament was pretty much a few thousand years worth of proving that).
I think Jesus will establish His Kingdom on Earth when the time comes.
I don't think we will.

Your comment about people doing whatever they want was in response to me explaining how all the religions of the world emphasize good works for self-salvation. You comment doesn't make sense in that context, other than to mean that you think anyone can believe whatever they want without pushback from you, yet you are pushing back against Christian teaching. As I said, you are acting inconsistently. You don't actually think people can believe whatever they want, because you don't actually think I can believe whatever I want; you are actively arguing against it.
You have a God given right to believe whatever you want. I would never stop you. Which is why I support the 1st amendment. I will stop you from infringing on others though.
You are the one who wants to restrict people based on their beliefs. Or have you forgotten already?
You also still have not explained your basis for morality, or have you forgotten that I've pointed that out many times by now? It's almost as if you are ignoring that.

Or what you claim is bullshite and you are just trying to market a product. Got any vacuum cleaners?
quote:No. His death paid the debt of sin, but like I said, His death cannot be separated from His life in terms of what is necessary for His free gift He offers, and what He offers is eternal life. For you to characterize Christianity as a death-cult only shows extreme bitterness on your part, where you are happy to mischaracterize the truth in order to stick it to Christians.
It's about his death. That's all you talk about, it's what all your symbolism and idols are about. It's what you keep selling to me now.
What happened to you? Church hurt? Why are you so antagonistic to those who want you to have the free gift of eternal life?
quote:Considering you aren't a Christian and haven't understood these basic teachings of Christianity, I find it hard to believe you even recognize the Jesus from the Bible, therefore, I'm not surprised you don't recognize the connection between what I'm saying and Jesus. It's not dogma, it's obvious in how the world works. Evil is funded by central banking, those who sell themselves to that cause are rewarded, those who stand in the way of it are killed. After they are killed their memories are distorted until they serve the beast that killed them.
Greed is sinful, but not because there are greedy people in the world. Covetousness is sinful, but not because there are people who covet in the world. You are describing what is and you are then making the leap to what must be. That's what I mean when I say your moral standard is arbitrary. It boils down to you don't like it, so it must be evil.

Feel free to argue with him to oblivion. He never tires of the same fallacious arguments, and he resorts to dishonesty. He is a psychopath who doesn’t realize he’s evil.
You really have to bait him methodically to admit to his evil ways or admit to the truth of our reality. 1. I don't actually support a theocracy. I have said it before, but I believe church and state should operate within their own separate spheres of authority, where the church is not directly controlling civil matters and the state is not involved in ecclesiastical matters. I believe they should work together for the good of the people (including their spiritual good with the Christian religion), but in their own ways.
2. It really is my belief that Christians should not be pretending to be unbiased and secular, but should be openly committed to Christ. The early Christians could have done more good for society by pretending to be OK with saying "Caesar is lord" and offering a pinch of incense in worship to him in order to stay alive and provide underground influence, but their commitment to Christ could not allow them to do that, so they died as martyrs, instead. Likewise, I don't think Christians should hide the truth for the sake of appearance of neutrality. That also likely wouldn't fly given the politics of our country. Judges will just look at the ones making the "neutral" claims and saying that they are just smuggling in their Christian beliefs, making those "neutral" laws unconstitutional, like in Wallace v. Jaffree, which is one of many examples.
3. The system we have today is exactly what's wrong. It's not even the 1st amendment as it is written, either, because for the first 100-150 years of this nation's existence, there was plenty of Christian belief and practice openly supported in the public square that was tolerated until the 1st amendment application began taking on more and more "neutrality" that kept Christianity from being included in schools and other public institutions. Do you think public schools in the 1860's would have tolerated the promotion of LGBTQ ideology while saying the Christian worldview wasn't allowed because of the 1st amendment? I doubt it. That happens today because of changes that have happened in jurisprudence over the past 100 years.

Key Features of Dogma
Unquestioned Acceptance: People must believe it without asking for proof.
Authoritative Origin: It comes from an official group, leader, or institution.
Fixed and Rigid: Unlike flexible guidelines, dogma stays the same over time.

It's clear you have a chip on your shoulder and you are determined to stick it to a Christian who dares say something is true which you disagree with.
Because you keep repeating dogma. You keep demanding people accept that the bible is the word of God without question. You then demand that people treat it as an authority - to the degree of speaking for God as a result. So that you can then demand anything you say out of is must be true.
It's not like you are offering actual reason. Could you remotely defend your positions without the dogma? It doesn't appear so.
quote:
The Bible is the word of God because it comports with reality and justifies the reality we live in. It provides a rational basis for what we experience every day, from logic to math to science to morality, and provides an answer to the guilt we have (feelings of guilt for what we do), and an answer for where we came from and where we are going, which are questions that we naturally have and want answered. There are many reasons why the Bible should be believed to be the word of God beyond that it claims to be, but that doesn't matter to you, because it's easier for you to just emote your hatred.
Again dogma.
It doesn't even get the first chapter of the book right. God tells lies, chapter 2 and chapter 3 contradict each other. The order of creation is wrong.
And your so called morality has already been debunked. Of which you can only justify as "Because it's the word of God and God can't do wrong". Now you are telling me it's also support for the bible being the word of God.
Circular logic and dogma.

Well because we see good things happen to bad people and vice versa all the time. In fact, if anything it's reverse of what you claimed.
Also, that doesn't answer my question. I asked you how do you know what you said is true. You answered by saying you see injustice happening. That's anecdotal and subjective, due to the lack of grounding in what "good" and "bad" mean in the first place, as well as the limited sample size that you have (you don't perceive all things or the meaning for why things happen as they do). So again, it seems like you are being arbitrary (irrational).

quote:How cynical. I gain nothing from you perishing and I gain nothing from you receiving eternal life. I'm just doing what I believe is pleasing to God: attempting to be obedient by loving my fellow man enough to not let them perish in ignorance.
You are just trying to gain numbers. And you offer nothing free. Probably gain a good bit of self-gratification.
And yes, it's still a free offer. If you became a Christian tonight and signed off of this board, I may never know the difference, but it would still be good for you.
You seem to be acting out of spite at this point.
quote:You don't even understand the subject. You continue to misrepresent the teaching of the Bible because you don't actually care what it says. You had rejected it long before I said anything about it, because it doesn't fit with what you want to believe. In such a case, there is no point in God revealing anything, because you've already made up what you want to believe, no matter how true or false it is.
What happened to me is I know better. I know how God actually gives and it's not your scam free gift.
And I know you tell many lies about God. Such as claiming he makes people and then just tortures them for eternity. You don't even seem to remotely grasp the depths of your insults.
But not, what I'm saying is not a scam. If it's false, you've lost nothing anyway. If it's true, you've gained everything. I don't get paid one way or another.
quote:You "grew up around it" but I've been studying it deeply for decades. I live it. You only think you know it because you've experienced some hypocrites saying stuff you didn't like, and now you have a deep bitterness about it and a hatred for those people who believe what I believe. It's obvious in what you say.
I was raised in deep south Alabama during the 70s and 80s. I know more about your shite than you do. I grew up around this stupid shite.
You're just making shite up again because you can't believe someone doesn't' subscribe to your dogma
I know full-well why people reject the truth of God's word: you are blinded to the truth. It's not a surprise that you are so vitriolic to it. In fact, it's to be expected. Jesus said as much, that the servant is not greater than the master, and that you will hate me just as much as you hate the biblical Jesus, because the darkness hates the light.
quote:If you want a full lesson on God's sovereignty over His creation, I'd be happy to do that for you, but something tells me that you don't actually care. You think I'm making it all up when I'm just explaining to you what God's word already teaches. You are in denial, it seems.
It's not God's teaching and you have demonstrated repeatedly that you do not know the truth by making ***** claims about God.
quote:Yes, I'm just going with the claims of the Bible, that if you reject the truth of God's word, you are a "fool". That is also demonstrated practically by your inability to justify your morality without the biblical God. You can't even go beyond your own limited observation to justify what is right and wrong, as if such subjectivism provides real meaning outside your own brain. Many other people have different experiences than you and reach different moral conclusions than you do. That's why an objective moral standard is important, and it's something that you appear to lack because you reject the biblical God.
Even now you are claiming - if you do not accept dogma then you don't have a basis for objective for life. That's why what I have is not available to you, and now you are left making up fantasies to cope.
quote:You are also repeating dogma. I'm justifying mine through God's word. All you've done is shared your personal opinion, which matters not.
You do not, you are just repeating dogma.
quote:Sounds like a dogmatic statement. How do you know this dogma?
No, reality only exists because of limitations.
quote:You don't need to tell me anything for me to know this universal truth: you are a sinner. You've broken His law and are guilty before Him, and because you reject the only means He's provided for salvation, you are on your way to judgement. I hope you turn from your foolishness.
I haven't told you shite. You are just assuming as usual. Because you can only see the world in your dogma and everything else must be the opposite.
quote:Jesus told those people who He was and they didn't believe Him. The only way that would happen to me is if Jesus returned as someone completely different than how He left this earth 2,000 years ago, which implies He has changed rather than stayed the same. Your ignorance of the Bible shows that you are only spouting your own false understanding (dogma).
You're just showing me why you would reject him. Which is funny because it's the same reason people rejected him in your book. They demanded he meet their understanding and did what they wanted to do, which was be a political leader, conquer things, etc.
